71 240Z ...Any thoughts?

He says it is ready to get in as a daily driver but then says the headlights don't work and the speedometer doesn't work. He also says a rubber kit and a carpet kit are included making me wonder why he doesn't fix this stuff before he sells the car. I think the $4600 is pretty high for a 32 year old used car that needs work.

Also, I have to wonder why someone would install "New Dash, New Rear Deck Emblems, New wiper blade assemblies, New rear hatch support strut,....." and not bother to fix the freakin headlights before offering it up for sale

Thanks for the input. I kinda felt the same way. Why would you begin work on a potential show car and quit? Perhaps the car wasn't quite what it appeared to be once restoration began. A cut your losses deal.

Or, the owner realized he couldn't afford to finish the project, or ran into money trouble along the way, and needs to cash to get himself out of debt.:ermm:

It doesn't look too bad, but I do see some things missing, like the ash tray cover, which is being discussed in another thread.

Looks like one of the "change-over" cars, with the early console, yet no hatch vents. And, it's got some rather unattractive wheels on it IMO.

All in all, probably a decent car for a project if you want to take the time and money to replace what is missing or incorrect, but if it goes over 5K, not worth the money IMO.

Opinions will vary, but I think it is over priced at $4600.00 even with the "new dash".

The other parts mentioned aren't very expensive and install of them could be done by any reasonably experienced person. In CA one can find cars similar to this for less if a bit of time is spent shopping. And I'd wager that the headlights would be working too!

Well, thanks again for the feedback. I've been looking for a 240Z for quite a while and am willing to wait. Just moved to Colorado from Virginia so, I'm a little closer to the west coast where the rust free cars seem to be found.

Its at 4850 with the reserve not yet met. To much if you ask me.

If you go to my link at the bottom here and go to page two you will see my 71 I bought for 2800, that cost includes driving it from Los Angeles to Pennsylvania, add 1k for the paint.

This came with working head lights, and a radio LOL Also were Recaro seats, header, exhaust.

Id shop around, TIR has always had a lot of complaints about things they sell or service mostly. If he owns it or is selling it he thinks its gold and nothing else will come close.

Pass it by and look for something else.
