I was backing out of the driveway and the engine stalled. Then the starter solenoid just clicked and clicked and finally turned the engine over but it would not start. Troubleshooting I found No spark from the Hi tension Coil wire to ground, what could be wrong I am stumped?

Since the starter was only clicking and then turned it over, I'd be tempted to look at the battery cables and/or battery. Could be it's a bad battery, or loose or corroded cables. If it's not the cables, have your battery and alternator tested. You might also want look at the fusible links on the passengers side strut tower, and the one on the battery as well.

The FI and electonic ignition take a lot of power to run......

Make sure all the above checks out. Then check Battery voltage. If below 12.60 Volts, dcharge it up on low amps. 5 to 10 amps for a while. 12.66 and above is fully charged voltage for a 12V car battery. Once charged chck cranking vlotage at the battery. If below 9volts replace battery and or check your charging system. Under 9.5 volts computer controlled cars will not want to work. If that checks out, then check your ignition module. How do you know the coil is good?:devious:

I left the charger on all night last night, will check the voltage after I eat breakfast.

I checked the coil by first checking the ohms between the center pole on the coil and the negative screw was withing the limits in the book, then between the positive and the negative screw and still within limits, I also did that with a spare coil I have and it was almost the same readings, so I am pretty sure the coil is good.

I pulled the two wires off the ic module and checked them for power with a light tester. the top one had power at both slots and the lower one had power at one slot. I am fairly sure power is going to the module.

I have a spare module from an old distributer that I replaced 3 or four years ago, is there a way to check that off the car????

I got it Fixed turns out I had two problems

1 The top electric plug on the IC Module was cracked and had a piece broken off so it must have been shorting out. I installed a used one from and old distributer I was saving.

2 The Air gap in the distributer itself was was off and one magnet was touching the rotor as it spun, the hold down screws were loose, it took some time to get that adjusted correctly

Put it together and it started right up
