Bambikiller240 Posted January 9, 2004 Share #25 Posted January 9, 2004 I enjoy many of the shows on SpeedTv, such as the F1 coverage, British Touring Car races, European Touring Car, Aussie V8 Supercars, World Rally Championship, Jet Boat races, (only the) "Inside NASCAR Show", and some of the "specials" about Porsches, Ferrari, old F1 documentary films, and Wind Tunnel w/ Dave Despain.HOWEVER, the "other" NAPCAR shows are a bore, the infomercials make me puke, and Speed Racer is an insult to the intelligence of viewers (at least this one, anyway). Most of the NAPCAR races are a total bore, though a few (Sears Point, Watkins Glen, Bristol come to mind) can be fun to watch.
Zrush Posted January 9, 2004 Share #26 Posted January 9, 2004 NASCAR is about as much fun to watch as Tennis. Unfortunatley the only exciting part of NASCAR is the wrecks. I know that's terrible thing to say, but it's true. Roundy Round racing is a big bore IMO.

kmack Posted January 9, 2004 Share #28 Posted January 9, 2004 And one redneck said to another Kind of like that commercial awhile back with Mario Andretti as a Student Driving Instructor: (Mario) "Turn left..." "Turn left..." "Turn left..." (Student Driver) "When are we going to turn right?" (Mario) "Why would you want to do that?"

kmack Posted January 9, 2004 Share #30 Posted January 9, 2004 I hate NASCAR because they always go in the same direction...LEFT! Part of the reason I like watching WRC so much is not only are they going both left and right, they are doing it sideways at the same time! seerex Posted January 9, 2004 Share #32 Posted January 9, 2004 I just enjoy a change of racing types , the states are dominated by nascar , add more Rally , F1 , scca , hell I like watching the Drakar , but I agree nascar is like watching tennis , Except the tennis player don't crash nearly as good , now I enjoy more of the monster series and chopper stuff while they show the 6 hour Dale tribute show, but glad to hear Steve Irwin isn't like all the aussies <susupected so anyway >
Victor Laury Posted January 9, 2004 Share #33 Posted January 9, 2004 I'm sure Steve Irwin must be an embarrassment to most Australians, But it gets worse. If you come to the West Coast of our wacky states, you'll be subjected to the terrible commercials of the theme restaurant, "Outback Steak House". A parody of dusty, thick accented, backward people, touting their "Bloomin Onions".It's the Crocodile Dundee syndrome taken to an even further extreme. I'm sure you'd declare war. I know I would. 1 Bravo 6 Posted January 10, 2004 Author Share #34 Posted January 10, 2004 Why did you have to mention Crocodile Dundee ????????? Right after seerex mentioned Steve Urwin !!!!!!!! I've just finished DINNER mate. Nearly brought it back up.   Do you know how to pick an Australian out of a crowd ?????? He looks like a Yank but doesn't talk with a funny accent. ROFL Seriously, disregard Dundee and Urwin. They most certainly are NOT examples of the modern Aussie. Rick. :devious: :devious: :devious:
Zvoiture Posted January 10, 2004 Share #35 Posted January 10, 2004 If I were Australian, I would sue. It is really REALLY bad here, as Victor mentions. How about "Fosters. Australian for beer." There's another one here besides Outback Steak House--I forget the name, but same horrible marketing. I guess we think Australians are cute. Here's something that makes up for a multitude of marketing sins and tacky exports, though:Nice export (sorry, can't get it to 'host')steve
