Air Cleaner Color

What about the engine compartment itself? It looks as though it were poorly painted black and now the paint is coming off. Surely that's not original.

I've never seen a blue air cleaner housing either but that doesn't mean it's not original.

Nice looking car, I hate to nit pick, but what about the carbs? I thought all 73's had flat tops? Also the choke cable is on the drivers side of the firewall. On my 73 it's on the passenger side. Did they have both in 73?

So nobody's ever seen an original air cleaner that isn't orange? Makes me feel better that it isn't just something that I've missed in my "Z-knowledge". :classic: Maybe it is just rare or unusual if it is really original.

He claims it is all original, yet it has the early carbs huh?:stupid:

As far as I know, all the air cleaners were the same orange color, the one I had on my 73 was orange...The air filter housing on the 280 I had was a very similar color though....

The crappy black paint job in the engine compatment is not orginal either.......

I'm not sure about the switch on the console either, it's not the OEM A/C "pod" that was on the 73's..... that I'm sure of. Now, what that switch is, is what I don't know.....:ermm:

There are quite a few blue ones in our gallery, most are on 260Z's

That sky-blue IS a Nissan color for air cleaners on all cars except sports cars.

My 320 pickup - sky blue

210, 310, 410, 411 RL411 (SSS), 510 Bluebirds - Sky blue

Roadsters all - Chinese Lantern Red

But the Z's are orange (ecept the blue ones)

I'm willing to bet cash dineros that the JDM, base model Z's with the single Hitachi downdraft carbs had sky blue as well.

Ifr anyone is interested, that Sky-blue is dead on the same as early Pontiac blue engine color, availible at most Auto Parts stores.

To me if you are going to say "professionally appraised", you should show a copy of the appraisal along with the pictures of the car. Maybe when the car was redone, it was appraised at that amount.

The car sure looks shiny on the out side but the engine bay is trashed. IMO If you take the time to keep your exterior in good shape then you should also pay attention to the engine compartment.

:finger:
