What happemed kid? Did you see me drive down Colorado Blvd and think "I gotta get one of those!". Start at Recycler.com check it every week on thursday. keep me in the loop and I'll go with you to check the prospects out. There's usally 4 or 5 for sale right in our hood. When I was shopping, I went to look at 3 just along Glenoaks Blvd. Your in luck cause Glendale/Pasadena/Eagle Rock seems to be a hotbed of Z's for sale.

Lets see if we can get you into a reasonable starter car. Hope you've got good job prospects, cause you just picked a fairly expensive hobby!LOL

I'm sure it would vary widely. When I was looking to buy my Z in 1999, I spent 4+ months looking at every 240Z I could find in the area (Alameda and Contra Costa counties, near S.F.) 90% were rusty, or chopped up in some way (i.e. sun roof, major elecrical problems, or really clapped out), the rest were either over priced, or sold by the time I got to them. Southern California may be a different story, but a rust free, decent running condition 240 in Northern Cal was going for $3K+ easy, and selling quickly. The price has most likely risen since then. After more than 4 months of searching, I found a one owner, all original, unmolested early 72 w/ 124K miles........and jumped on it.

For $1K about all you will get around here is a Fred Flintstone car.

thanks a lot guys :classic: raised my confidence in finding one, i never would have thought there'd be so many Z's in this area. hard to see nice cars rolling around. my brother has a 89 240sx w/ an SR red top with modifications. he wants to help me get a 240Z to start his second project and for me to get my first car. thanks for all your support. i'm glad i became a Z freak.

i know rebuilding a Z will be expensive, but it's a car i'd work for even if i had no legs and couldnt drive it. ROFL
