Posted January 12, 200421 yr comment_63821 I've installed all a/c parts from a 260 2+2 to a 2 seater some time ago and just left it unconnected till now, (summer). This included condensor, pump, compressor all piping and the part that sits in the dash, (that is like a small radiator). I thought I could just gas it up and connect power to it but have since found out I also need some other circirtry under the dash??? Any advice or pix would be appreciated. January 12, 200421 yr comment_63834 I think there is a relay on the right hand side of the engine bay before the strut tower, under a metal shroud. It's a factory AC that runs vacuum lines right? January 12, 200421 yr comment_63854 I think the simplest air cond system would consist of a switch to turn the compressor on or off. Of course the extra load on the engine at idle means you have to increase the idle speed, which is part of the electronics that you are probably missing. but you could just set your ilde with the air cond on and put up with the faster idle when its turned off. January 12, 200421 yr comment_63860 Yes, i just removed air con from my 77 2 seater and the only "circuitry' was the on/off switch and the fan speed knob. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/9688-260-air-con/#findComment-63860 Share on other sites
January 12, 200421 yr Author comment_63925 Thanx guys. I have'nt got any vacuum lines in the engine bay and can't remember any. The parts car I had was sold. The only vacuum lines were the ones on my silly aftermarket cruize control, (which was ripped out as soon as I bought the car).I think I'm gonna run it off a simple on/off switch and use it mainly on freeway drives. I've heard the fan can be replaced by a 88-92 honda civic blower that's almost a perfect bolt on fit. It would be nice to have cold air in the car on those long summer drives and good strong air for dimisting the windscreen in winter.Cheers all!!! January 13, 200421 yr comment_63984 The factory air had AC on the fan switch and used vacuum lines to operate the hot/cold, demister etc.Sounds like someone has retro fitted one out of a 240k Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/9688-260-air-con/#findComment-63984 Share on other sites
January 13, 200421 yr comment_64007 Yeah I plan to put air cond in my 240 with bits from my 260. Probably going to make some sort of hybrid unit to fit under the 240z dash and keep the 240z heater controlls.
