Sure you can unplug the wires from the back of the IG switch, and pulg them into another on that you have a key for (you dont even need a switch, just some wires). Start the engine, and drive off. BUT, because the IG Switch thats still bolted on the steering column is in the off position, the steering lock will snap on locking the steering when you turn the wheel to the right position.

The IG switch assembley is supposed to be bolted on to the steering column with bolts that the heads snap off when they are tightened up. Leavine no way to remove them, unless you drill them out.

There are easier ways to disable the steering lock, but i dont want my Z stolen either so i'm not gonna post on here how to do it.:stupid: :stupid:

From my experience, only one of the ignition bolts is a headless one, so you undo three, slide in a cold chisel give it a whack and the steering lock is off, you can start her up and drive her off no problems.

In the USA, the Ignition Lock Assemblies that I have bought from Nissan (including one in a complete Z-car lockset bought this month) have come with TWO of the screws that shear to form the "bit-less" screws.

It doesn't really matter how many of these your car has installed, as all that is needed to defeat this "security", is a portable drill and bit that will destroy the "bit-less" screwhead(s), and a phillips head screwdriver for the others.

3 minutes or less ought to do it. :(

Geeze Victor, I am sad and happy all in one. I never really saw this post until tonight! Sorry you had to go through the experience, but, I'm glad that your story turned out OK. Count your blessings. Your car had a few minor things to repair and that's good!! She could have turned out smashed into a tree.

I wish these idiot car thieves (looooosers) would stick to stealing Camry's, Honda's, and your standard boring car. They don't deserve to even DRIVE a car loved that much by someone. Did I mention they are losers and will never have the opportunity to experience the joy of owning a car such as yours? Ok, good....
