I am in a debate right now...

I have a set of Western Hurricane Wheels on my car right now.. however.. when I bought my parts car for my repairs on my wrecked 280Z... there were some extra Iron Cross wheels sitting in the back of the 240Z.

So... does anyone like the style of the Iron Cross wheels? Especially on an classic S30 Z?

I have always liked them. I bought a set from the junkyard for ten bucks each (Pick-a-Part half price sale) and polished them. My plan was to put them on my 810. When I saw how they looked polished, I decided to put them on my Z. That coupled with the fact that the Z is garaged and the 810 resides in the driveway. Many cats in the neighborhood! I think they look good especially when you consider the cost.

I know I like the wheels alot... but I wanted to see everyone's opinion on what color they should be?

I was debating between:

Polished

Black in the Iron Cross

GunMetal in the Iron Cross

I had those 280zx wheels on my first Zx they are my favorite ZX wheel. Those pics of that anniversary ZX with the black in the wheel are my exact favorite ZX wheel.

Whenever I see those rims I always think of a 280. I hate to say it but I didn't really like them (maybe because I'm a 240 guy). Then when I saw them polished, WOW, I love the polished look!

Yea, black in hte centre like you posted would look great, although Stephen's all-polished look also looks AMAZING.

I admit that I'm not a big fan of the Iron Cross look, but the way they look polished really sets them off.

If you were to insist on painting them, the original look is to paint the inner part of the cross black, but I think that if you were to OUTLINE the center parts with either black or another high contrast color the effect might also be remarkable.

Like everyone has said, it is your choice and your Z. As far as color, I like gunmetal. Like I said, it is completely personal, but in my opinion, the polished wheels look good, as mine are polished. However if you want a less shiney and more Japanese look to your car, gunmetal always looks good, especially with red. Here is a pic of Guus's car with gunmetel iron cross wheels if you had not seen it before. I am sure that if you choose to polish the wheels or paint them gunmetal it will look good either way. I would do without the black accents, but that is just me. It may suit your car since you have more black in various places.

do you have a pic of your "Western Hurricane Wheels". coz I can hop on paintshop and pop the "Iron Cross" wheels on your Z if ya want. Just as another view...

Wasn't the Iron cross a Nazi thing in WW2? A medal? mybe there were nazis in the Datsun factory. A german did design it...:stupid:
