Posted January 16, 200421 yr comment_64521 On the 1978 280Z, I would like to know where the kickdown solenoid is on the automatic trans. The Haynes book says you can unscrew it and replace if it doesn't work.thx. January 16, 200421 yr comment_64562 It's on the drivers side of the trans next to the vacuum diaphragm. It has two wires coming out of it. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/9742-location-of-kickdown-solenoid/#findComment-64562 Share on other sites

February 13, 200421 yr Author comment_68251 Right.the Haynes book says first connect the leads at the gas pedal to see if the switch works, then you should hear the kickdown solenoid clicking inside the trans. My switch must be rusty, it only seems to kick down sometimes and you have to push the pedal down slow, like when you go around to get on the freeway.thx.
