YogiBearandBooB Posted February 11, 2004 Share #13 Posted February 11, 2004 I saw Brendan Gaughan (Nascar Truck series star, and Nextel Cup rookie) on Speed channel over the weekend talking about driving one of these new Dodge SRT 10 trucks at the Dodge Proving Grounds in Chelsea to a new world record for a rock stock production pickup truck with "flag" style mirrors mounted, and the tailgate in place to 155.5 m.p.h.still an expensive truck, but a fast one. thefastestz Posted February 11, 2004 Share #14 Posted February 11, 2004 Whoa Whoa wait a minute....This truck is not to be compared with SUVs. Yeah its a truck but underneath the skin there is a Viper.People arn't gonna buy this to use as a real "truck". This is a 500hp / 500ft/lbs0-60mph 4.8sec1/4mile in 13.2sec@107.1mph61.7mph in the slalom( to compare Maxima 62.3.....350z at 66.4).......type of truck. Not my cup of tea but sport truck guys really luv em. 2ManyZs Posted February 12, 2004 Author Share #15 Posted February 12, 2004 I'd sure like to just take a test drive in one...:devious: without a salesman of course..... I drove one of the "lesser" V-10's in a 4x4 3/4 ton pickup a few years ago, and what a rush that was. Quiet, had as much torque as the Cummins diesel I had at the time, and everything happened twice as fast. Stick your foot in it, and if you weren't watching the tach, you'd run that thing up to redline in not time at all. Shame they discontinued the iron block V-10.:disappoin
hls30.com Posted February 12, 2004 Share #16 Posted February 12, 2004 Anybody ever heard of a GMC Syclone-early 90s GMC truck-payload capacity 350 lbs or so, but with 4wd and faster than a scalded dog-this is another version of that! Pobably the same payload. On the Dodge 1500, I bought a Quadcab last April, not the Hemi, but the SLT with everything but leather and the pricetag! (I barganed down to 23K) It is not a Z, but it will haul two of them at a time. The only problem I have had was a squeek coming from the rear suspension. The truck is there to be a truck, trips to the dump, moving, towing my Zs and roadsters, and hopefully moving a rotiserie to the shop! It is a nice truck. I enjoy it when it is necessary to have a truck, or take more than me and my wife to dinner, and I do not think it is for "men with little wankers." I bought the truck to replace a 1985 Toyota.Owen, take one for a testdrive, don't campare it to a Z, it is not even close, but it is a couch on wheels that will tow nearly 8000lbs, seats 6 adults comfortably, and with a spray-in bedliner will cary things I would never want in my Z!
