ok ,yall seem to be the most helpful group of z nuts i've ever had the pleasure of reading from. me being a nut as well i guess i shold know this stuff but, ive never really dealt much with suspension; im more of a stock guy, but the 72 240z i saved is far beyond that already so im taking on my first modidfied project. the insane previous owner heated and cut the origional springs (the car is about 1"- 2" off the ground now) so, being on a limited budget, i purchased some used springs;12" st 103# rear and 11" st 175" fronts. Now, after reading yall's discussions for hours, I am wondering what you would reccomend, remember i'm on a TIGHT budget, I do about my strut situation. I am at a complete loss when it comes to this and any info would be greatly appreciated. By the way, I love the feel of pebbles as I run them over, but I live in the mountains with some bad, but fun, roads. I want it tight but i have to navigate some pretty interesting pot holes.

thanks

Guess i'm not sure what you're asking??

Do you mean what struts to install, or whether to change them at all?

Did the previous owner change the struts to something that would work with hacked springs?

If you need strut inserts- generally KYB are cheapest, or Monroe, etc cheapies.

try www.shox.com www.suspension.com or www.rockauto.com

Good luck, Jeremiah

Just one thing, before you order strut cartridges, you might want to check the strut housings themselves to see if they have been "molested" in any way..... if the car is that close to the ground, he may have shortened the strut housings or moved the lower spring perch......

My old race car sat almost that low to the ground (but it depends on where you are taking this measurement also) with shortened struts and adjustable coil overs....

Seems to me if the car is that low, with the springs he had on there, there would have been almost no suspension travel at all.

There's enough of us here with our cars torn to pieces we can give you the strut housing lengths for stock housings....:cross-eye
