240ZX Posted February 20, 2004 Share #37 Posted February 20, 2004 Rusty1, Seam welding is going over the chassis, when all the crap is out of the way, and making short welds (stitch welds) along all the seams of the different chassis pieces. This process tightens up the chassis. Pretty much a good idea for big HP and competition applications if allowed. Chassis bracing via a roll cage and strut tower bracing is the next step. Does this clear things up for ya?

kyteler Posted March 12, 2004 Share #40 Posted March 12, 2004 Looks good.. has it reached you in Aus or is it still over here in NZ?
drunkenmaster Posted March 12, 2004 Author Share #41 Posted March 12, 2004 Still over there.Havent found a 260Z wreck over there so it will come here with no mounts and OEM sump.Still trying to sort out turbo details. On Jack's advice I'm looking at a GT30 over the T3/T04 as was my original plan, but apparently they are considerably more expensive over there, perhaps I will have to buy and fit it here also and make up the lines. The plumbing i.e oil and water lines is one thing I dont really want to do that much of. kyteler Posted March 12, 2004 Share #42 Posted March 12, 2004 Can you not find one cheap in Aus or elsewhere and have it shipped over? Alternatively you could put a wanted ad on the SDU forums page and that way you could pay for it and they send it directly to the guys for you. Mind you, I guess you'd ideally want a brand new one. drunkenmaster Posted March 12, 2004 Author Share #44 Posted March 12, 2004 how much are those boxes?I heard rb25det boxes command $2000+NZD, which is approaching double what they are worth here. That made me want to look for boxes locally.
260DET Posted March 13, 2004 Share #45 Posted March 13, 2004 They are RB20DET boxes DM, unfortunately for you. Good strong box though not as tough as the bigger 25 box. How was your freight organised BTW, got a name for me? Really do love your engine, drool, yumm.:cheeky:
drunkenmaster Posted March 13, 2004 Author Share #46 Posted March 13, 2004 Yes I noticed that, but I was trying to get at that boxes in general might be cheaper over here.My freight isn't organised yet, but I will let you know this week who it is done through.where are the boxes coming from? 260DET Posted March 16, 2004 Share #47 Posted March 16, 2004 From NZ, DM, around $750 each. But the freight thing is not going to work with you in Melbourne and me in Bris. Sorry, should have thought of that sooner.
drunkenmaster Posted March 16, 2004 Author Share #48 Posted March 16, 2004 Its probably not worth it anyhow, those boxes are only around the $500 mark locally on the 2nd hand market.
