Cant get over the cookie cutter looks of the car, hell the muran looks like it like the G35 and well the audi tt and so on and so on and so on.

Unlike the other Z gens it doesnt stand out or have its own look to it. The Z32 really changed things and was very aggressive looking and was a really nice ride, though it was priced out of its market and soon failed.

For what it is it isnt a bad car though I would never own one.

Besides that my 21 yo car can beat it hehe.

Look, if the 350Z turbo/supercharged cabrio (not out yet, just guessing a year or two from now on product development) was pinned against my car, the 83 280ZXT, I would grant that the new car would be way more muscular than current competition, aka Corvette C6, Ford Cobra Mustang, BMW M3 etc, but in a homely body. Those other cars are way more attractive cosmetically than Nissan's best aesthetic attempt, the Z that actually looks worse with the top up!

Step back, then, to 1983...jeeesh, what have ya got for looks to compare with the last Z of a Jaguar conspired design..Trans Ams, Ford Mustang/Fairmont platforms, VW Scirrocos and Audis? Moreover, I would bet the farm there are far fewer of those cars as individual running examples on US registration/roads today.

As it stands today, the 350Z does have a telltale thread to it, being that it doesn't run in the reliability league with the big uns, aka Toyota and Honda..even though they're not importing current Supra league GT similar performers, there's already some unreliability built into the current Z, or so I've read, in premature wear on tires due to poor suspension design (read Autoweek for more on this).

I don't know all the weak spots in my Z yet, but I know it will never be a Lexus or Infiniti..the thing that bugs me is that "prestige" brands from Japan seem to have the reliability built in that my car had when it was new (and there weren't any Lexus or Infinitis, etc!). So, in my book, current Nissan material, though state of the art design, are probably at arms length with..gulp..American car design and quality!!!

If only I could turn back time!

I think that the 350z is the most beautiful car and continues to make me proud as a Z lover. All the you need to see is the right combo or one with the right wheels. If I knew how to post pic's I would show all of you examples that would change every single persons mid.

I agree that maybe the nissan 350z is not a honda in the quality aspect but by no means are they close to any american made car or truck. I have owned 3 240z's, 3 maximas , 2 supras , 3 hondas and numerous other japanese and german cars. BUT only 1 amercan made vehicle a ford truck. I think nissan may not be toyota and they are not a honda but never would I compare them to anything made with a gm or blue oval tag. But I also hope nissan doesn't release a 40-50 k version of the 350 because it will drive it out of the grasp of their meat and potatoes market at 26-33 k. Still on my purchase list as well as a titan.:geek:

I groove on it, big time.

when I first some some lawyer driving one in the lane next to me and my Z, my first throughts were what a piece of crap, ripoff, sellout, etc... and I hope he doesn't want to race. that resentment soon dissapated when he complemented me on mine at a light, hahah. from then on I thought they were pretty baddass looking. I checked'm out in the lot when I was at the nissan dealership asking about parts, and I like the black ones alot.

Yes, the 350Z is heavy, a crap load of emissions, heavy steel and plastic will do that to a car. When it first came out, Jaws were dropping, eyebrows were raising, and grins were ear to ear.

You guys have to realize that we are also in a different era where laws (created by man) are causing this problem. Creature comforts and ammenities also add to this equation. Also consider that a crapload of emissions were designed to be part of the cars performance. The emissions that we think of (from the '70's) were simply bolted on to the car as an after-thought. Thus, they greatly reduced power and affected performance.

We can't do anything about the laws. But, we can add a bigger engine. :D Nissan needs to build a supercharger/turbocharger for this car .... maybe form something with Stillen?

In my opinion the G35 is beautiful to, but it's the 2+2 version of the 350z just like the Z32's. The new z looks fat because of its flares, thats because of the nasty 17 inch hub cap lookin wheels they come with (Tracks beautiful) All you need is nice rims (like Te-37'S) It'll make 911 drivers envy.

I like them, at least as much as I like any car built after 1979..

I think the look of the car - although a bit chubby, is clean and quite "Z" I am not sure I'd drop 30k on one. For 30k these days a WRX sTi looks awfully nice to me..Can carry the wife and kid, gets good millage, can drive it in the snow, maybe a wrc rally replica.....
