Barrett - Jackson is a famous auction house for collector cars (known around the world in fact). They are holding an auction for the next 3 days in Scottsdale, AZ which (portions of) are being telecast on SPEED TV. They will sell many millions of dollars worth of cars in just a few days.

It's a professional auto auction with big-dollar or famous or antique cars.

It's on at 5pm eastern on Speed Channel.

The first day they sold cars for 3 hours and topped $1 million easy. You might see ONE car go for that much!

Oh yeah- this year they had a contest: you can win 10,000 "Barrett bucks" you can spend on a car! they guy who won already got himself an old mopar muscle-type car.

I watched about 1/2 hour of it. I've come to the conclusion that cars are a bad investment.... ie the $100,000+ Hennesy Viper that went for ~ $59,000. OUCH!:hurt:

I believe that some cars are a good investment. I wouldn't pay $100,000+ for ANY Dodge Viper. For a classic Hemi powered Super Bee, Charger or Road Runner, yes.

I think it would be fun to strut around there like I had all kinds of bucks and just dream of being able to bid on something there. Instead I crawl though mounds of junk cars at the bone yard to find my Z parts.

It's not a big deal, but the guy I saw on Speed TV won $50,000 in Barrett-Jackson bucks. Rightous Bucks! He was the last guy in his circle of friends to not have a Muscle car to cruise Woodward Ave in. Guess he's got one NOW! I wonder what he bought?

Tho I entered the contest, sadly it wasn't me that won.

:stupid: :sleepy: As I was watching the Auction just now. They are answering ? from E-mails. One person was asking about the JAP collector cars and about the lack of them at the auction.

The answer was " Well, at this point we would like to see a Toyota 2000GT. But the only other car that would fit is the Datsun 240Z & 260Z but we dont feel enough of them have rusted away YET for them to be a true collector car at this point." :sleepy:
