Things have changed! It now looks like '72 and '73 ownership is higher than anyone else. But, it looks like we've got a LOT of members that own cars between '71 and '73.

I'm a new guy to post, and have been lurking for years. For me, it started with a beautiful '72 I had in college in the 80's. For some foolish reason I sold the car, and had been looking for a nice one every since.

So, I found a great restoration candidate, a fairly rust-free 1970. I started work on it, then stumbled on a completely rust-free 1970 and bought it. Then my logic went wrong :stupid:, I wanted a driver, and bought a '73 on ebay. It had a few more problems than the seller inidicated (gee, why was I surprised at that?). Life would have been easier had I cleaned up one of the 1st 2 enough to drive.

Next I stumbled on a very sharp low mileage (41k) 1971 that I had to buy. It 'came' with a 1974 260Z as a package deal.

The 260 looked like a good candidate to turn to a convertible. After talking with John Washington at Reaction Research, we decided to trade an old Ford tractor I had for a 280ZX convertible project he had.

Now I had a shop that filled to the brim with Z's and am trying to create the time to work on them.

Ok, so that's the LONG way of saying I have 6. Fortunately my wonderful wife enjoys my hobby / addiction and supports my shop time.

Welcome Glen. Sounds like you have your spare time for the next several years booked solid. It's great when you have other family members taking an interest in your hobbies. Think of everyone here as an extended family, ready to help if we can. Good Luck!

I too am a new member and own a 78 280z. This was my first car, that I bought new on my own at age 20 and ran it till 1996 (310,000 miles), with very little problems and never had to rebuild engine. I layed it to rest in my garage for 10 years + and plan was to restore it one day for my son. Well this all started last year in March. Things are going pretty well, but do have a few little problems that I am trying to iron out. I'm sure I'll post on other threads or create one for help. My "Z" is part of me that will never part in my terms.

mine is a 1980 actually. Imported from Japan back in the ealry 80's

ive got a '73 (3/73)silver with black bre racing stripes 3 inch flares fibergalssed

I also have a 3/73 build date, HLS30-152443. Baby turd brown. Being stripped to ready for full resto/hybrid. Final paint will be BMW Artic White.

In the late 1970's and early 1980 I restored my early '74. Painted it Porsche India Red, added fender flairs and a whale tail. It sure was pretty and I regret everyday that I sold her.

Mine is a 72 being restored.

I own a 74 260z and enjoy every moment I drive, work, or do whatever else that I do that has to do with it.

I would like to welcome myself to this site as I have just acquired my dad's old '73 240Z HLS30 139584. He passed away last year and I finally got a chance to tow it from Va Beach up here to Richmond, Va. It has been in the garage (driving my mom nuts) for 15+ years. Probably only driven 1000 miles in the 5-7 years before that. So needless to say it is in great shape. No rust at all...all original parts...no body damage...good bumpers etc. Only thing is that it has not been turned over in 15+ years so I have a little work to do just to get it running. Then gotta figure out what I want to do with it. So I will be here with lots of questions over the next couple of years. Look forward to all the help and advice. Thanks.

After 14 years of owning a Z, my Dad got old enough to give in to the need for luxury in his sports car and bought a '98 Corvette. As a result, I inherited his '73 240Z. Body and engine are set, the interior is going to be my project. He gave it to me in October and I have not had a chance to drive it yet, nor will I for another two months. I refuse to be the first one to drive it on the salt-laiden roads of Minnesota. Have to wait for clean pavement. I can't wait!

I've got a restored '72 and another one produced the same week that is my next project. I'm always on the prowl looking for series 1 Zs
