Looks as though this Zed is one of the late Series 1 cars that had bits from a series 2.

I'm not too sure about the subtle changes but I know that the series 1 speedo starts at 20mph not 10mph as this one does. Maybe he changes the early speedo for a later model???

Maybe "all seeing/reading guru" Alan T can help shed soem much needed light on the subject???? What say you oh great one???

Most UK-market cars, and just about all Japanese-market cars, came with the front wing / fender indicator repeaters - but without the rear ones seen on the USA / Canada market cars.

I don't have any data about when they stopped using the front ones on the Australian-market cars, but the early cars had them - didn't they?

For the most part, I would expect the NZ-market cars to conform pretty closely to the Australian-market cars. Maybe there was the odd difference and change here and there? Considering the unexplained / undocumented spec. and component changes we see on most of the early "Export" RHD cars, I would not be surprised if there were some differences with other market versions of Export RHD cars.

How's that for answering a question without answering it?!

It looks a nice car, kyteler. I for one would like to hear more about it. Steve ( sjcurtis ) will be wanting VIN number / engine number data from it to add to his Export RHD database, I'm sure.

I've heard about some nice early cars living in NZ, but have not seen pics of very many. Good to see!

Didn't know that. Wonder why they didn't have them? Must be a story behind that. Would it be a case of them not conforming to local laws?

That's what happened with the very first UK-market cars. They had to put the first batch of imports on the back-burner while they re-configured the lighting.

It appears that both front and rear side marker and flasher repeaters are options to the base model export HS30-, and they run from the first Zed to the last with production changes Jun/Jul 72 for a bulb intensity from 8W to 10W.

So if a batch was optioned up on the production line at any time they would have been dispersed all over.

It also appears that Zeds bound for Europe had flasher lamp repeaters on the front guard available right through, but I would question it for the late 73 with bumper mounted indicators. as for marker lamps for Europe they where also optional front and back through the whole of production.

In Australia I must say after seeing Shane's cars here at Newcastle 10+ he has Australian delivered early zeds that confirm not all changes to front guards where retro, The option thing and the Europe build spec explains also why we have a large number of 71 build zeds with front flashers.

Think about this how many times have you seen a zed with side flashers on the guard and the comment always was "oh its had a shunt and he got 260 guards" maybe not.

We got lucky and have captured all the production info for these Zeds in NZ and it is in the register, with many thanks to kyteler

still no joy chasing the exact colour for the air filter housing on my part Nick.

Mine doesn't have front or rear repeaters but it does have a plastic blank plate over the side light switch locattion in the centre console. Mine also doesn't have the rear demister.

My 71 had no repeaters. Alan, I heard a story where the first batch of cars imported to the UK were just redirected to Australia... just a story, is what you said what really happened?

Whatever the case, I think they look a hell of a lot better without the repeaters! .... in my opinion.

My 73 doesnt have the indicators in the guards, but no 132 (or was it 134 I cant remember) that I looked at did have them in the guards, maybe it was a whatever we have in teh parts bin they get on the car?

I've had 2 1972 Aussie 240z and neither of them had the front indicators.
