Cam Sproket Won't Come Off

Wedge the cam sprocket with a screw driver or socket extension against the cam guide. It's on there pretty tight, but it'll come free. Don't forget to mark where the cam chain goes on it, and how it's aligned to the camshaft (because that'll turn by the time you get it back on!), so that you can assemble it easily. Also!! Do not forget to wedge the cam chain in place so that it doesn't fall into the engine case, or you're looking for a really long weekend.

Good luck!

What I have done is to wedge a piece of soft wood between the cam gear and the side of the head to kinda lock the cam/chain/etc from turning. Put a 22mm (I think) socket with 1/2" breaker bar on the bolt, and whack the breaker bar with a 3 lb. sledge hammer. Has worked every time for me.

Of course you must use something to wedge the chain tensioner in place, as stated above.
