Help please.

I have a 72 and it just started making a strange sound when i turn the wheel at a stand still. I seems to be coming from the front end somewhere near the wheel. It kinda sounds like rubber rubbing, almost like when you turn a wheel on a painted surface or in a parking structure.

Thanks for any help.

Hey SER240Z, If you need to bring your Zed down to the shop tommorow. We're in Bell Gardens. Just down the 710 from your neck of the woods. Or striaght down Garfield, left on Florence. Let me Know if need be. PM me if you wanna check it out. Later :devious:

I had similar noise from an old Scrirroco (can't rember how to spell it anymore) for about two weeks until the lower ball joint came apart, and the wheel went to the top of the fender. I was lucky it happened in a gas station parking lot at 5 MPH and not 10 minutes earlier at 70 MPH on the freeway.

IT very well may be your tire rubbing on the fender paint. What size tires do you have on the car? With large tires and sharp turns, the tires can rub on the fender.

My car has 215/60/15's and it required bending the fender lip inward at the front.
