TomoHawk- The big thing is would the plate be visible for the cops. Cops camars, all the other crap they try to get us with. As long as the paint is good everything should be fine.

Bambikiller240- You probablly could have one restored without a problem. Just keep it looking like it would from 30,40 years ago. Paint techlnogy has changed.

If you blasted it clean with walnuts or plastic sand, you might send it back to DMV (or some official place) to get it repainted 'officially?'

Nowadays, if a plate is junk, we just trash it & get a new one. I dunno if contemporary plates are worth saving, unless it's got the state bird on it or your college or something.

Turtle necks.................... in the FLA humidity? Man, that is :stupid: , of course Leisure suits in any circumstance is/was also :stupid: and we had plenty of them in CA. I had one, the (now) ex-wife forced me into wearing it twice. :sick:

Any you can buy Genuine Japanes Licence plates. Second hand ones for $46.95.

Not legal to drive with, but cool all the same. Good for shows.

I believe you can drive with those foreign plates on the FRONT of your car here in Florida. I've seen them on many Jags and Porsches. They just have to be dead plates. I have a plate that was on my 78 280Z on the front of my 454 Chevy Dually, it says "DAT 280Z". I verified with the police that it was OK prior to putting it on my truck. I suppose in some states that run front and back plates this would not be allowed, obviously.

Mr. Camoflage - Some time ago, there was a thread that explained the Japanese license plate, what the letters and symbols represent. Alan knows. Your link to the sale of these plates is a good one, but I would not assume that they were authentic originals. I may be wrong, but I think they are repros.

I believe the kanji (chinese characters on the top) represent the city/location (not sure though). I remember seeing that post awhile back.

Also, if you do a search for Japanese License Plates on google, you can find other sources - and many are cheaper!

I live in New Mexico. Next year, when my Z is 35 years-old, I can get a "Horseless Carriage" plate. How cool is that!?
