Side Flashers / Side Markers

Alan,

You're very correct in assuming that Aussie delivery cars where loaded with dealer accessories. In fact I would state that you would need to place an order for a "basic" car.

One interesting option that the 260 was loaded with was a rear window reflector. I've never seen another one and have often wondered if it was a dealer option?

The best way of describing it was to think of a cutout of blue plexiglass that fitted inside the rear hatch window. The "glass" itself contained speckles or particles of silve/gold foil for reflection.

Very effective and coooool looking. Anyone seen similar?

Alan,

Yes - my car was indeed an Australian-market car, and does not have the front indicator repeaters. Have a quick look at my gallery for confirmation.

In fact, I think I have the original sales receipt showing exectly where and when it was bought. I'll have a look if it will be of interest?

Alfadog,

I'm wondering at what stage these front and rear repeaters / markers were added to the design. I reckon it was fairly late in the design process, and I have a hunch that the front came first and the rear came a bit later ( ? ). I think they would have been added out of necessity rather than for the sake of looks.

Oh no quite the opposite, I'm sure they didn't add the repeaters for design purposes, but they may have EXCLUDED them in certain markets where they weren't neccessary for that reason.

Alan, the French also had the same "no cut" front valance.

I think that they had already a euro law at that time stating about the height of the light and side markers! What about the Dutch and German… But again when I look at the Alpine A110 siez, I wonder?
