January 31, 200421 yr Author comment_66633 L20's were in some of the older Datsun/Nisssans. Such as Maxima's, B210,510's maybe and trucks. With my LD28 crank and Tomei pistons this is the rod that will give my proper piston/deck clearance. January 31, 200421 yr comment_66641 I don't have any myself but in Australia we had plenty of 4cylinder and 6 cylinder L20's. Maybe one of the Aussie members will be able to help.I plan on doing the same set up.:classic: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/9946-l20-connect-rods/#findComment-66641 Share on other sites
January 31, 200421 yr Author comment_66645 Well put the word out downunder. I want to take the whole rotating assembly this month to SunBelt racing Engines in Atlanta for a complete balancing job from the front pulley to the flywheel. There is a NOPI Nationals Show in March at Panama City. I want to be there to show off my Hakosuka GTX. February 8, 200421 yr comment_67644 Will 6 from an L20A work? I am not up to snuff on the different bore and stroke setups. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/9946-l20-connect-rods/#findComment-67644 Share on other sites
February 9, 200421 yr comment_67655 I have an L20B (four cylinder) short block sitting here on my verandah, are these the rods you are after, if so I can go and grab a couple more from the wrecker to make up a set of 6 if you so desire?Cheers Chris Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/9946-l20-connect-rods/#findComment-67655 Share on other sites
February 9, 200421 yr comment_67661 From my understanding of the different engines,L20 4cylL20A 6cylL20B 4cylYou can use rods from L20 and L20A but the big end on the L20B is a bigger diameter. From memory isn't the stroke on the L20A is 69. something mm, with a bore of 78mm.Hope this helps. February 9, 200421 yr comment_67702 I'm after six L14 rods myself, anyone?Nick. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/9946-l20-connect-rods/#findComment-67702 Share on other sites
February 9, 200421 yr comment_67705 nixcars, L14 rods only came out with 8mm rod bolts, why not use L16 rods. From 4/72 L16 rods came with 9mm rod bolts.L24 rods also had the 9mm rod bolts (other than the Maxima 82-83 L24s, but the big end and piston pin bores were different sizes anyway).I don't know what you are doing just thought these other rods would be easier to get hold of than the L14s. February 9, 200421 yr comment_67783 Alan, I need these rods for the length. Combined with a VG30 N/A short skirt, lighter piston I can build a smoother revving L28.As for rod bolts, ARP units in 8mm will do the job.If the L14 rods are too hard to source, then L20A (6 cyl) rods with RB30 N/A pistons will do the trick providing the rod length is 135mm. I need somebody to confirm this length as someone has said that they are the same length as L24 rods, (133mm).Nick. February 9, 200421 yr comment_67789 I am on my way to U Pull it to search for a new wheel hub to suit a trailer, what kind of car should I be looking for which would have an L14 motor, and I will have a look round?
