February 5, 200421 yr comment_67224 It might be a viable option if multiple panels were shipped together. They should stack up fairly easily and aren't all that heavy. Someone in the US could put together maybe 5 inner fender panels cut out of LHD drive cars and swap them with someone in Australia with 5 panels cut out of RHD cars. The battery tray itself may still be a problem but having an existing inner fender should be a whole lot easier than doing the fabrication. To determine the economic viability one would first need to determine what an inner fender is worth. $150? $200? February 9, 200421 yr comment_67790 I know you guys are always looking and I saw a car with a good tray this weekend. The yard owner thought it was "Saturday on eBay" and I didn't even ask what he wanted to cut it out. I may go back and I'll deal if he's real with a price. October 8, 200420 yr comment_97661 I am in the same boat as most of you. The battery tray itself has surface rust but beneath the tray there is a hole with serious rust. I guess cutting the metal out and replacing it or finding a nice donor are the options...... October 8, 200420 yr comment_97664 A steady trickle of ex USA LHD cars in the UK, that are being converted to RHD. LHD battery trays do not fit RHD cars so LHD battery trays are probably being skipped.there's an opportunity for someone there.Andrew Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/9995-battery-tray-inner-fender-parts-needed/?&page=2#findComment-97664 Share on other sites
October 10, 200420 yr comment_97792 I had a rust free section from a RHD car that could have been used to repair the battery tray area of a LHD car, but got no interest, so it went to the crusher with the rest of the 2+2 shell. October 11, 200420 yr comment_97873 I am still looking for a rust free donor section. Have to decide between having the shop patch the hole or graft in a donor section. October 13, 200420 yr comment_98042 I have found a suitable donor. Going to have it cut out and grafted in to replace the bad section of my Z. I'll try to get before and after pics. October 13, 200420 yr comment_98043 Roger from the Zbarn sent me mine which was from the passenger side strut tower down to the frame rail all the way back to the firewall and included the firewall section as well for a hundred bucks which included shipping to me in NJ FWIW.How did this work out? Roger is my source too. I looked at the pics in your gallery. Seems to have turned out well. Any pointers from having done this? October 13, 200420 yr comment_98064 Has anybody put a grommet & drain hole in after they have fixed their battery tray area? Seems like it would at least keep standing water out. October 13, 200420 yr comment_98076 No grommet and drain hole, but if you get a OEM Battery Tray, it has a drain tube attached that will reach down below the framerail.
