Posted February 1, 200421 yr comment_66732 Looking at these tire sizes:Stock tire diameter = approx. 24.7"205/50-17 (25.1")215/45-17 (24.6")225/45-17 (25.0")Looks like 215/45-17 would be best for me. I was just curious if anyone was running 225's (or wider), and if anyone had 17" wheels and wanted to share their tire size and experiences? February 2, 200421 yr Author comment_66885 Well, I'm looking at these in a 17x7.5... So it looks like a 215/45-17 is probably my best bet. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/9996-tire-sizes-for-17-wheels/#findComment-66885 Share on other sites
February 2, 200421 yr comment_66886 There's always a number of variables to be concidered! Are you using the stock set-up, are you using coilovers, are the struts modified (shortened), are you using adjustable camber/caster plates........etc., etc.. What's your set-up darsunfreak? February 2, 200421 yr Author comment_66889 Basically stock... :classic: Plans right now are sportier springs (not coil-overs), new shocks (KYB), the 17" wheels shown above (either adaptors or long studs and spacers), and that's about it. Eventually it may go to Ground Control coil-overs, but it's not likely at this time. It's a daily driver, not a race car. February 15, 200421 yr comment_68557 240zx- You must be using coil-overs to run 8" wide in front and 9" in the rear, right? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/9996-tire-sizes-for-17-wheels/#findComment-68557 Share on other sites
February 17, 200421 yr comment_68798 joedatsun,You are correct, regarding the coilover set-up. I have the Ground Control units with camber plate on 1.5" shortened struts. Front springs are 200 lbs x 10" free length and the rear are 275 lbs x 8" free lenght. (The 8" springs in the rear are necessary for proper clearance on the 17 x 9 wheels). I have no rub problems with the 235-40 x 17" tires however, there is not much room left in the rear with this set-up.
