i thought 75's had fuel injection?i know my 76 does and i went to see if the SU's would fit on but they didnt. Did u see if the #'s matched? maybe it is the original engine. What block is it?

The plate in the engine compartment (as well as the serial # and date plate in the door jamb) was removed by the last idiot to paint the car. The serial # on the engine is L26 112926 and from what I have read that is certainly later than 1970..I was told by a dude that came by who has owned a bunch of Z's that the SU's were from 1970 though......Quite a mystery!

The "L26" part says that it is a 2.6 liter from a '74 260Z.

Regardless, any of the Z straight six engines can have the early SU carbs installed on them. Lots of early 240s running around with 280 engines in them. My '71 has one out of a 280ZX right now, complete with injection. The injection will be removed and carbs installed in a few weeks.
