Ali Member September 3, 200222 yr comment_271 Share this post Is this engine the 300ZX engine? Sorry but i don't know to much about nissan engines. I wanted to learn more about engine swaps as I progress on my 240ZX. Approximately how much did this transplant cost you? Nice car!! RB30-ZED Member September 3, 200222 yr comment_274 Share this post No it not a 300xz, its a Austrailan 3 litre Nissan with a skyline head. Im a Motor Mechanic, so i did it all my self, just the cost of parts and the head, about $700 Aust. Glad you like it Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/gallery/image/178-rb30de/#findComment-274 Share on other sites
26ounce Member September 4, 200222 yr comment_276 Share this post Great job there mate! All for AUS$700 too, unbelievable!!! Is that and RB25 head on a RB30 block? That would give it a DOHC right? RB30-ZED Member September 5, 200222 yr comment_283 Share this post Thanks again, yes DOHC , the head flows about 30% more air than the single cam head and with the V.V.T. and high compression, it goes very nicely Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/gallery/image/178-rb30de/#findComment-283 Share on other sites
Judd Smith Member November 13, 200222 yr comment_457 Share this post Car looks great! is it a turbo ? I have also transplanted an RB 2.5T in to my 260Z it doesn't look quite as good as yours but the performance is excellent. Which state in Aus are you? Sean Dezart Member December 1, 200222 yr comment_485 Share this post Ditto bambi killer - what's the weight like compared to a highly modded in- line six ? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/gallery/image/178-rb30de/#findComment-485 Share on other sites
RB30-ZED Member December 3, 200222 yr comment_490 Share this post Thanks for the comments guys, not sure of the weight, the block would be about the same and the twin cam head is heavier, but I got the engine to sit about 50mm (2 inches) further back and lower than the old L-series. RB30-ZED Member December 22, 200222 yr comment_531 Share this post The RB30 engine is Australia only, but you should be able to get hold of a RB20 , 25 or 26 through importers Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/gallery/image/178-rb30de/#findComment-531 Share on other sites

Aussie Zed Member February 10, 200520 yr comment_8646 Share this post Great work!!! I've been looking into doing the same swap somewhere down the line. Where did you source the head for this swap? Did you have trouble with the V-TEC? I've heard that's more trouble than it's worth... Anyway, thumbs up for a great swap into a clean car. Well done!
