Gav240z Member April 7, 200420 yr comment_5111 Share this post yeah should be an E31 head with a 2400 Valve cover but at the same time the early E88 is identical with a slightly larger exhaust valve I believe so it really doesn't matter. However if your restoring this car to original specs and going to the effort of keeping the original engine I'd look into aquiring an E31 again Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/gallery/image/8204-original-color-under-hood/#findComment-5111 Share on other sites
deadflo Member April 7, 200420 yr comment_5114 Share this post I was wondering about the head too, I wasn't sure if it had been changed or not ,given that it is a very high serial number for a series one, I thought perhaps they had switched to the E-88 head just about this time (1-71), and used the valve cover they still had in the assembly line. Marty Rogan Member April 7, 200420 yr comment_5116 Share this post Deadflo, I also have a Z blt 1/73 that I know is all original. It has an E31 head and the more common OHC valve cover. I suspect the head and valve cover were switched over later. I also love the blue interior. Check out my 70 in the gallery with blue interior. Where did you pick up this car?
