  1. I would get some Canadian cash flow before you go. The type of establishment you are known to frequent will probably give you a even exchange.
  2. I was cutting carrots tonight after you started this thread and my wife wouldn't let me take a pic of a bunch of carrot slices on a cutting board with half a hot dog... Took the camera from me.
  3. He does at first. It's just some of us require more volume...
  4. I was only too happy to help because it gave me an excuse to take the Z on a longer drive, and I got to help a friend by doing something I enjoy doing. I hope Cody was able to pick up on a few things. Speaking of which, have him read https://fiddlingwithzcars.wordpress.com/2012/12/22/relays-simplified/ to understand a little better about the headlight relay and why the substitute relay does the same thing. Now it's time to wash the road smell off of me and get the before photos of the turn signal switch.
  5. Virginia does that too......pretty neat!

My Z is very easy to drive with the 10lb Fidanza, requiring only a bit more finesse than stock when taking off. Stock is around 22lb as site mentioned, so it's a 12lb difference plus/minus a pound. The difference is noticeable but it does not become a pain to drive in traffic at all.
  7. Well SteveJ came up today in the 260 and brought his little bag of magic tools. He was a big help. We narrowed down the headlight issue to a bad headlight relay. He had a replacement and all the vintage connections to make a plug n play fix. We still had an issue on the drivers side with glowing headlights we eliminated a backfeed issue and he narrowed the problem down to corrosion in the fuse box. So under his direction we pulled the fuse box and soaked the whole thing in a container of white vinegar for a couple of hours. After that a neutralization bath of water and baking soda. Blow it dry then use denatured alcohol to get all the water out. Blow it dry again. That brought the drivers side headlight leg up over 2 volts. Headlights are good now. We found 2 bad fuses in the fuse box, after that we had brakes lights and wipers. We got the horns working and I swapped a voltage regulator and got the alternator working. Then we had an erratic turn signal and I pulled the turn signal switch for cleaning... All in all a really productive day, I may have even forgotten something... Really big thanks to @SteveJ for coming up to help

All done, Cliff's newspaper leak check is in progress. Courtesy (10 min. from my house) had the parts in stock. Check out the list price on that shaft seal . The young parts desk guy was funny - "Uh oh, my system doesn't go that far back." Me: "That's why you need David or Butch." Parts guy: "Yeah, let me get this info to Butch in the back". Heaven help us all if Butch and David don't train these new guys on how to look up parts in the old catalog. Cliff - your extract and install tips were spot on! My machinist's scribe has a right-angle point and was perfect for pulling out the old seal. A long 11mm socket was the perfect install tool. A bit of anti-seize allowed everything to slip right into place. Thanks again to you both for great assistance. Jim
  9. Is Ms Blue bringing the suitcases, or will a Snap-On truck be following?

I prefer the flat hood to the Louvered hood of the 78's etc. The vented inspection doors are a nice mod that isn't that common but not out of character..
  12. OK, but only nine more times until you have a matching set. Dennis

Nice! I like the mellow shape of yours. It was totally an impulse eBay buy and might not be that most effective of all the options, but I like this more than swapping on a 280z hood.
  14. My middle name is James... may I join the club?
