  1. Ok, here is the proof of usefulless. I think I like this stuff. It's tough, has a fairly high friction on the face so tools don't slide off, and it stays in place of course with the great adhesive, but will never have a problem coming off. It seals the surface underneath from all contaminants too. All the sheets, blankets, yogurt mats, etc, that fall off, are never in the right place and that grind muck into the finish are toast around here except for utility use. Now I can leave tools on the fender and cowl like old times instead of the spank tool tray. Well no, I'll keep that, but this reduce the trips to the touch up booth..... I also have to test its resilience to long distance welding and grinding sparks too... Probably burns like gas soaked rags. Have to check that as well...
  2. I posted this in someone elses thread, but decided to start a new one here. It may be useful for other members having problems with the TIU. These systems are getting old and starting to fail more often than not. A couple of months ago I had problems with water in the fuel system. After cleaning it all out, draining the tank replacing the fuel filter the engine ran normal again. When I took it for a drive I was lucky to limp back home with the engine coughing and backfiring. Went through the EFI bible test and found some poor soldering joints on the aftermarket injector connectors and some minor things. It still would not run right once it warmed up. It was great cold, but once it warmed up bang it started all over again. The tacho was bouncing a little, but it didn't seem enough to be the ignition module and it checked out ok. I thought the tacho bounce was due to the lurching forward and stalling of the engine. To eliminate the ignition I changed to a HEI Module (a cheap $10.00 unit to test with) and the engine has ran perfectly ever since. The ignition unit played up fierce when it was hot, but its been running perfect for the last two months. Here are some photo's of the temporary fix to see if it was the TIU. This is the unit I used to do the testing and if all goes well I plan to upgrade to Flame Thrower. Now its up and running my next step will be to install the HEI Module in the old TIU casing. Chas
  3. Cool. Thanks Chas. Much easier to find now. I "commented" in the Download area and linked back to this thread, for the back-story..
  4. To receive BBB accreditation, a business pays an annual dues based on the location and number of employees . Perhaps in the case of Hagerty, they have not chosen to pursue it. I believe it is more of a marketing decision rather than a ploy. The business model of BBB is to give a customer a venue to advertise their service and leverage BBB's 77% consumer brand recognition and its search engine optimization services. http://www.bbb.org/greater-maryland/for-businesses/about-bbb-accreditation/ "BBB accreditation does not mean that the business’s products or services have been evaluated or endorsed by BBB, or that BBB has made a determination as to the business’ product quality or competency in performing services. Businesses are under no obligation to seek BBB accreditation, and some businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB accreditation."
  5. I'm gonna shill for Costco, because I seem to do that whenever I can find an excuse to do so Costco sells Ameriprise, and I've been using them since my wife and I got married almost 10 years ago. 100/300/100 with full coverage on all our cars ($500 or $1000 deductibles) costs ~$470 for 6 months. The Z is only $58. As an executive member, I even get free towing. Haven't had to use them much -- I was in a minor fender bender several years ago that was 100% my fault (my rates weren't raised), a 3 mile tow, and a chip in my wife's windshield was repaired at zero cost -- but every interaction has been good. Highly recommended.
  6. Wow, definitely an excellent write up! I have the 79 ZX dizzy and module in my 77 but when the module goes out I will be installing the HEI, much cheaper! Hell, I may just do it for a project
  7. Hi ZedHead, I made a tech article in the download section with the latest version.
  8. So here we go again. Last week i visited the Bodyshop to bring him the rear quarter panel as a reference for the other side he's currently working on and while there i had a little chat with him and a look around. The rear quarter is coming along nicely and i love when you can see the rare and pure metalwork with all the bondo and stuff gone. It proves that the car is in brilliant shape after work is done As you can see he also started work on the rear end. The bent rear lower panel was gone. What you see here is the panel inside the rear quarter panel where the tank lock is installed. he makes a new one from scratch since the original is scrap. Today i got another update. He also started work on the rear upper end (lower hatch area). I thought at least that area was rust-free in my car, but iw as wrong. This is how it looked after the upper panel was removed: My panel beater immediately started to create new ones from scratch: And while i write this topic just some new Whatsapp messages with Updates dropped into my phone with some detailed view of the final panel in one of the corners from the lower hatch area. Before (top panel already removed): Original panel cutout and rust protection applied: Final Panel welded in. Still needs some details but already i think this is a work of art. cant wait to see the rest done. Hoping for more updates soon
  9. I made a simple wiring diagram of the setup Im now building. Its a little different around the resistor. Im using a 12V coil and bypassing the resistor. The wire from the ignition switch is connected, but doesn't have any purpose atm. Thanks to Wayne (wal280Z) for the awsome effort he has done with the color wiring diagram. Some photo's of the work in progress. Chas
