No, but I know them. Now, would you mind taking some time and learning some manners? @Mike @bpilati - Could this thread be merged with the thread below?

Thanks Cliff and you're absolutely right: He would go up onto a side hill, jump on the edge of a stone wall and then onto the roof just to look out toward the front yard. Destroyed most of the tile. BTW, I think our President pronounces vagina differently. Rhymes with "Susie"
  3. Not the Z but I shot some BC/CC on Cody's 510 yesterday and today

And while arguing with us on a price you feel comfortable with, the vehicle will be sold to someone else who's more decisive.
  5. Okay, to help people understand, I went to TireRack.com and copied the specs of two Hankook 225/50R16 tires and a General tire. The first Hankook is a medium performance tire and the second is a max performance summer tire. Note how different the tread widths are between the two tires. Keep in mind, these are both by the same manufacturer and they still vary greatly. The third tire is the same size, but a General. Note again how different the section width and tread widths are. Multiply section width by 25.4 to get the nominal tire width as advertized. The General is small and the Hankooks are much bigger than nominal.
  6. Beg to differ: In Zed's example 205/70/14 = 205mm tread width, 70% of the tread width is the sidewall height (called aspect ratio), with 14 inch wheel diameter.
  7. Hey everyone, just a follow-up to this thread and some photos of the end result. I made some brackets that hold two air filters, a 1.75" from K&N (I found them on sale at MSA) and the standard 3.25" filter kit from Redline. Without the bracket, there was just over .5 inches of clearance, but with the additional filter bump there is now over 2". I got it assembled yesterday, and the car definitely breathes better, especially at higher RPMs. The last dyno test showed the airbox I was using was reducing the overall horsepower by about 10 (even when it was sucking in hot air from a non-moving car), and while I didn't put it on a dyno yesterday, I think these filters have almost the same result as running wide open. Also, I noticed that it goes more lean now at the higher RPM, so I can probably increase the main jet a bit. Seems to support the idea that it wasn't getting enough air before. Incidentally, there wouldn't have been room for larger K&N filters as the master cylinder was in the way. Photos attached.
  8. Jason my car is HS30 00150 and was built around September / October 1970 also. So it actually doesn't have the cover. I believe the cut off date is around July/August 1970. Australian delivered 240z's only got these up until around chassis no. 100 or so.. They are getting harder and harder to find. Like any early S30Z part now.
  9. It looks like a 280Z wide ratio. This document should give you enough infoemation about it. How to identify - F5W71B Wide and Close ratio transmission.pdf

Saw a little dent on front bumper but otherwise very nice car.. here in europe it would be a 15-20000 euro car if it drives like new.. or newish... ;-) In the states... i would like to know at what prize this go's... eh pri C e... haha.... That dent i saw on someone elses pictures... I'm restoring a 280zx with only 119000km! (74000 miles!) from a sub dealer, and yes from the first owner! It drove 119000 km between 1979 and 1994 then a sub nissandealer bought it back and.... put in the back of a storageroom for carparts! As a service-engineer ive seen the car there in the 1990's (HAHAHA..) several times. Until Bart from bartscooterservice pointed me at it.. (He's also on this forum) I knew the dealer from back then having a 280... fun!!... i went and bought that car on the spot! (in 2013!) now this summer it wil drive again.. (According to my painter...)
  11. The "proportioning valve" on the early 240Z, mounted at the rear, is actually more like a hydraulicly operated timer than anything else. The cylinder compresses the spring and fills with fluid. This essentually delays the rear brakes and allows the front brakes to engage first. When you let off the brake (pedal) the fluid looses pressure and the cylinder returns. That is when the system is clean and in good condition. Now 45 yeaes later a lot of these valve cylindees are seized in the loaded position and no longer reset. I have never seen one of these proportioning valves apart. Most people change to a willowwood adjustable and replace it or move it to the engine bay just after the brake switch. Can you post a photo of the kit?
  12. Don't forget the fusible link connections.
  13. Be careful as every car and every brand/model of tire is different. Some cars don't rub and others rub badly. Tires can vary greatly in size depending on the shape of the tire. Some are trapezoidal and others are square. The more trapezoidal the tire, the less chance of rubbing, but also the less tread on the road. Tire widths are measured at the widest part of the sidewall, not at the tread and even then, there is no real standard. Much like tread wear ratings don't mean much.
  14. Charles I'm sorry if that came out as dickish but the dot dot dot at the end left me wondering what you meant. Nothing but love from here.

Dave, You made me smile! Almost forgotten how to these days. I am so glad to learn of you and the others on CZCC... truly understand about one of God's greatest gifts. No wonder the name for the species is God spelled backwards... Dog. These fine creatures truly are born with their vast gift of love intact. Looking for "their own" person to give it all to. We are so blessed by their life's action. Sending my comfort to you and your family. Take care all CZCC, give YOUR dogs extra attention this week. Just to make sure they understand how much we love them, trading that for their "All". Jai
  16. That is not always definitive. They failed several alternators in a row on my truck. Turned out to be a bad terminal connection...
  17. Can you go to a local auto parts and have them roll their testing cart out and see if the alternator fails or passes? Advance does that around here for free, battery test load too.
  18. A great thread! You are a teacher for most of it. Many thanks!

EuroDat, Dear one, losing our long time friends is so so hard, I am grieving for you and your family. We are so blessed when these wonderful creatures share our lives, makes it hard to do without their physical companionship. The pain is so intense, even hard to breathe at times. Your great love for her in allowing her to leave her broken body behind is the ultimate gift to Kylie. She knows of this gift, and loves you even more for it. I can only assure you that time will take the sting out of the loss. It never leaves but is manageable. Try to focus on the happy times shared, those memories will live in your heart forever. Thank God. I do believe they are attached to us even from the other side. It may sound crazy, but instances of fleeting motion glimpses may be near you. They do not want to leave us anymore than we don't want them to go. Bless you and your family for giving Kylie such a good loving home. She loves you and is so thankful to have shared her life with you. Sending my love to each of you, Jai

Hi Jai. Unfortunatly my family knows all to well what you are going through now. I mentioned earlier in this thread that our 14 year old four legged friend Kylie was not going too well. She took a turn for the worse and we had to put her to sleep yesterday in the middle of the night. She went with the four of us by her side. She has had problems with a leaking heart valve for a while and that suddenly deteriated. She had diffuculty breathing and that was getting worse by the hour. I will miss her a lot.

Sorry to hear about your loss. Who would ever imagine these fantastic critters could mean so much to us. I am wildlife biologist and work in the field alot doing surveys. For 12 yrs. my buddy Darby worked by my side. Last August I had to put him down due to kidney failure. This is my first year working alone without him. I sure miss him. Thanks for ALL of your sweet comments. She beat the odds, her vet said she was 1 of only 3 in her whole practice that cleared kidney failure. The time was fleeting tho, after 9 months it returned with a vengeance, pushing her beyond any options. Placing her pain and unhappiness as first priority over my agony of losing her, I released her to the heavens. But you know, we are given these amazing creatures to experience the love they give, they always leave before we do. It is hard, but...it is better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all. That is their unselfish gift. There will never be another Deanna, but there will come to me an older dog that has been abused or abandoned, with a serious need to experience love before they die. That dog, when it shows up in my life, is the next dog I will adopt. I want to gift one with love, and care for it until it passes away. In Deanna's name, it's the least I can do for a fellow traveler on our beautiful Earth. Take care my friends...
  25. When I first bought a 240 it slipped BAD. I was used to 280s unadjustable slave cylinders, those clutches worked until they were worn slap out. I read on here, as always, and found out how to adjust it. Me and Jai probably had that same "holy moly" moment. Night and day difference.
  26. Thank you all for the further responses! All very helpful, with some interesting points raised It sounds as though Tokico Illumina Struts with Eibach springs seem like the best choice for a street car, with a sensible mix of rubber and some poly bushing in places. I take it that while in there its worth looking at replacing the 'mounting insulators' (believe that's the correct US term), adding bump stops etc to refresh the whole setup? Ultimately I'm just after a car that can comfortably tour and do distances while being well setup for spirited fast road canyon carving when the mood takes my fancy. I will need to way up the shipping/import costs as well, as relatively speaking I don't think the setup will work out any cheaper than coilovers (especially given their availability in the UK). Again many thanks for all of the contributions, any other input still welcomed
  27. That's a really nice looking car you have. I wish I was closer. I'd sell him my #110 red '72 240Z. EDIT: You might want to do a google search on Slick's Garage before giving him your keys, he's been in a lot of trouble. https://www.google.com/search?q=Slick's+Garage&rlz=1C1BOFA_enUS494US494&oq=Slick's+Garage&aqs=chrome..69i57j69i60&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
