  1. Howdy Cousin!! Year or three ago I was at a beer festival and they were raffling off some prizes. You filled out the form and put it in the box and they pulled names out later in the evening and announced the winners. I filled out my form as Haywood Jablowme. They called the winners up on stage. I won a shirt. It was epic. All my friends and all the eighth graders in my area still talk about it. It's my second favorite shirt behind the one from Back Forty.
  2. The rear view mirror on my 1977 UK 260Z does not have a day/night toggle lever. The owner's manual suggests that this non-toggle type of mirror is fitted with anti-glare glass.
  3. As promised here's a link to the very few images I took at the event, much smaller turnout by comparison to Donington. https://www.flickr.com/photos/148965131@N05/albums/72157680936590832 Also here's a picture of me and my dad at the event with our pride and joy (weather wasn't the best hence my dad wearing the flying jacket). Castle was very cool. DSC_0577 by Mark Woodrow, on Flickr

  5. Thanks guys! Working on this car IS my therapy! If I could only get the army to pay for a "companion car" instead of a service dog.... I think my mental health would drastically improve
  6. Are there Z mirrors without the toggle switches like the one in the pictures, or are these from a different car?

Thanks for the tips on the Loctite. I'll keep that stuff in mind next time this job comes up. I was installing bearing races onto antique motorcycle magnetos and that sort of work doesn't come along every day! Keep up the good work!
  8. I think you are correct. Maybe the racers put them higher for better forward visibility: "It don't matter who's behind you, only who's in front of you."

  10. Hello Montezuma I am in Irvine, my Z is in Pasadena....how can you help? Thanks, Andrew

Good, I already pulled the trigger and bought some.
  12. Like many road-going 432-R users, they probably found that it was a nuisance when night driving. In just the same way, quite a few road-driven 432-Rs ended up with gloveboxes, heat/demist controls and centre consoles etc within a few years of being sold.
  13. Haha! "insulted connectors". Spell check to the rescue!
  14. 96321-E4100 was the '69-up interior mirror for the S30-S Fairlady Z 'Std' model and the PS30-SB Fairlady Z432-R model, with no Day/Night adjustment. Many other Nissan models (especially in Japanese market) had similar style mirrors. What makes them Z specific is the curve of the stalk and the mounting.

Nice work on the inserts. What are you planning to use to lock the inserts in place? I'm no expert in the field, but I've had (mostly) good luck with the Loctite Bearing and Sleeve (which is green). You mentioned Loctite green earlier. Is that the stuff you were referring to? I also don't know how large of a gap it will deal with, but I have had situations where it cured on me with a half installed bearing race. I was using it as belt and suspenders on a reasonably well fitting bearing and I got it half pressed on and it flash cured and wouldn't go no more. Happened to me twice with the same pair of parts. I found the solution was to make the fit sloppier. I bet if I would RTFM, I would figure out what I was doing was a problem. Point is... It would really suck for that to happen to you with a half-inserted spacer. Took me heat to get things apart again. Look into it maybe before you go for it? I don't think the bearing and sleeve retainer is intended to be wicking after assy. The green thread lock is, though. Also... WD-40 - Worlds best cutting fluid for aluminum! Sorry, I'm rambling.
  18. Right. After seeing that the base of your shifter is that sliding ZX thang and not the simpler fixed bushing style I wholeheartedly agree!
  19. Finally was able to install a new shift knob. When I bought it the kid had this cheap plastic thing from autozone.. affected shifts, slowed you down, wasn't weighted. Ordered one from MSA and it was no longer in production... then ordered this billet aluminum one and it wasn't in stock. Patiently waited and glad I did! What a world of difference a good shift knob makes with finding gears. Couple that with the new bushings and adjustments I made to the lever, and my transmission is feeling up to par now Meeting an old roommate and some old friends for dinner at the Woodshed in FW. 20. You get out of my head you evil man! On a really cool note. I took the time to mess with my air correctors this weekend. I swapped out my thermostat and while the engine was warm I had a chance to try out my sync tool. All of them were close to flowing the same volume of air. However cylinders number 2 and number 6 were flowing a tad bit less air. Having never touched my air correctors since the 40's were new, I gave it a shot to see what I could do. I lightly backed off the jam nut and opened up the screw. The air flow quickly came up to match cylinders 1 and 5 and now all 6 cylinders are dead nuts even at idle. And speaking of idle, the engine smoothed out even more than it was and it seems to be snappier off idle now. I guess I am a believer in the air corrector adjustment.

Cool Cliff. We only have a certain amount of time to get it all done too. Makes for a busy few months for sure. Papabear, just keep us posted on any progress. I'll do what I can get up there in the near future.
  22. Zedy - Dave Rebello is finishing up dyno'n my engine this week that he built for me (hopefully it will ship the end of next week after the dyno). I did step up to Mikuni 44's (Custom ported 38's venturi's from Dave) with a bigger header primary, and moving to a larger exhaust as well. Really excited wiht the complete increase airflow and horsepower. Come on now........you know you want to do it!
