  1. Brian passed away last night in his home in Auckland surrounded by his family. He was a good friend and mentor to some here. He was very knowledgeable about 240 Zeds and was very willing to share that knowledge and to help anyone who asked. We met on this site and when we traveled to New Zealand in 2011 he and his wife, Sheryl, welcomed us with open arms. I'll never forget the luncheon given to us by the New Zealand Z Car Club organized by Brian or the personal tour around Auckland. He was a gentle true spirit and I will miss him very much. He is finally pain-free. He had fought prostate cancer, heart problems and injuries from a construction accident which damaged his shoulders (in true Brian-like fashion he put power steering in his Zed so he could still drive it). Rest in Peace old friend. See you on the other side. Mike
  2. whenever i need to take apart something that has small parts in it, i do it in a large, clear plastic bag that you can see through. keeps parts from flying away to that never see them again place
  3. *update* Installed the Wildwood brake kit
  4. @siteunseen that does sound like a good idea, I used to race go carts when I was younger and did appreciate my coach teaching me alot. A refresher and some classes are hopefully in line sometime in the future. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  5. Hey - Im new here, just in the process of restoring my 1971 Datsun 240Z, though to share it with you all. Anyone else from Toronto Canada here?
  6. Horn pad emblems, Only Z432 has a red "Z" , other models Fairlady-240ZG/240Z/Z/Z-L come in blue. Both are made of metal, after summer of 1973 the pad became to have a trumpet . Z432 was discontinued at that time, so a red with trumpet pad was never made. My ZG had equipped the red emblem until I was able to obtain the blue one. Kats
  7. Good question Gave, it is not for the works cars, as you can see the part number, it is for the Skyline GTR. The cap's color muches so well with the rally wheel, so I can not stop myself putting it on the wheel. Kats
  8. These pictures baffle me...
  9. Here are a couple more pictures of it... Some of them have the old rims on still, but I'm running 16 RS Watanabes now to fit the break kit. The car really evolved, I think I went a bit wild with parts when I first got it, then landed on a more refined place with it - ie. no carbon fibre hood on it anymore.
  10. i bought them for a 72 240z
  11. I paid $395.00 without the blue tooth adapter. Same vendor did the same conversion earlier this year on a Wonder Bar radio for 62 vette. This gives me a completely stock look with both AM/FM search and ability to attach my iPhone to play Pandora or stored music or pod casts. Or attach iPod..etc. Capable of driving four speakers without an amp. I currently have speaker kick panels with Tweeter mounted in the Air Vents for directional control. Planning to add an 8 inch amplified sub under passenger seat and two rear speakers.
  12. Hi jk240, Thanks for the kind words. Simple reason for the thread here rather than uk is the fact that not many people seem bothered about anything zed related if it's not uk derived. In fact I sometimes feel that most uk owners think that their datsun was built in Sunderland with the other Nissan models. And the forums are more constructive and appreciated by members on this site. Just a bit more civilised. We're not far from each other so hope to see you soon. Ironically I was just reading an old classic car magazine today with a lovely article on your car when Gwyn jones owned it. So glad you changed the front spoiler from what he had. What was he thinking !!!
  13. Well just collected the kobe seiko z432 style wheels from the refurb shop. Due to these being lightweight magnesium wheels, they were soda blasted first, then etch primed before painted. I like the satin black finish, nice and period.
  14. new plastic lenses with o.e stainless trim. Don't line up very well so not sure if these will be fitted yet. Refaced, new circuit board and re-calibrated 10k tacho to suit L series unit.
  15. not the later 10th anniversary model but a lovely condition early wheel.
  16. I do have a nice pair of o.e fender mirrors but im leaning more towards the lightweight raydyot racing mirrors that were fitted on the works rally and the z432 suzuka and fuji 1000km race cars. (car pictured not a genuine works car but more a tribute). I managed to source mine with original stamp embossed in mirror.
