What are you using for power supply? What are your plating times? Dip times? Are you using Blue Chromate? You could always post up your experience and methods in my Caswell thread for posterities sake
  3. I'm sure this method has been used by others and this suggestion may go better in the Paint and Body Section. I just want to catch a lot of eyes with my suggestion. If you have a Heat Gun then give it a try on that black tar stuff that's stuck to the floor pans and other places. I can't get dry ice very easy and it's Sunday night to boot. I got my Wagner Heat Gun out and it worked really great at helping me remove that black tar coating in the passenger side floor pan area, etc . Heat gun, good lighting, couple of scrapers / putty knives and I had a big area clean in short order. Got me some cleaning to go but it got the majority of that hard tar removed. As a added bonus the gun keeps things warm and it's cool out tonight. Gun was cheap plus you can use it all around the house or car and the work area stayed dry. Hey it was a win, win!!! Hope this helps others with their Z car.
  4. While i can't show you much, i've been busy lately completeing a lot of stuff i've started but never really finnished. 1) Thanks to the input of some readers i was finally able to remove the last cylinder from the brake caliper. The solution was easy. install the allready-removed cylinder again and fix it with a c-clamp. add some air-pressure again to the brake-fluid channels and it would pop out easily (It doesnt look like the cylinder is aligned properly but i fixed that) Since sunday my Rattler / Vibrator / Tumbler / Spirator / Whatever you call it, has been working in full force to remove all the rust / Paint / Dirt and grease from all the parts i will send for re-plating. It's maybe not the fastest solution but it comes out quite handy and you don't have to do anything except of waiting Guess it will take another week or so until all the parts are ready andsome of them even might need a bit of manual cleaning, but the first bunch of parts are allready looking shiny and have a super-smooth surface Then i got some new (used) turn signal switches from my mate Patrick (Thanks for that!) to complete that job too. That's it for now hope for more updates again soon

  6. Correct, no AC on this one. I am not a big fan of the dealer installed AC set-up, neither is the car owner. Personally, I think it detracts from the true nature of the Z as a sports car. Also, the dealer installed compressor is a behemoth that detracts from the whole engine compartment. If I had a resto-mod Z, I would consider a modern AC system, but not for an original Z.
  7. If you play with the adjustment screw (X-type panhead machine screw at the 11:00 o'clock position in your picture of the rear face of your horn), you may find an easy solution to your problem. If not, no harm done and you can move on to the next step of your troubleshooting. The adjustment is a bit hair-triggered and requires a little patience to get it right. If your car's PO played with this and lacked patience, he might have just given up and left it in the 'dink' adjustment zone.
  8. That's exactly what I did. Screwed it down with a gasket on a piece of plywood. Bead blasted then sprayed high temp matte clear. Looks fantastic, to me. 8^) Take some 400 grit sandpaper and hit the high spots to make them stand out.
  9. I totally understand about not wanting to drive in Atalanta. I think most of the driving will be North of Atlanta and you will get to meet some of the excellent board members in person. They are a colorful crew!

  12. In addition to the FSM as recommended by Steve, here's a pic that might help with the routing, ...and yes, I managed to score some new Nissan vent hoses a few years ago before they became unobtainium.

  14. I always pulled the coil wire when I left one overnight but those days are over, no more one nighters at my age. I wish all cars were manual shift. That would cut out the smartphone/ unlimited minutes drivers that scare me. They're the reason I don't ride motors anymore. Probably for the best, I crashed a lot.

  16. You're right about the blue interior. The inside is so dusty and the pictures so bad that the interior appeared black to me when I first looked at it. I used to have a '71 white with blue interior that I sold about three and a half years ago and I loved that combo and miss the car!
