  1. I think ZH meant that it's the 'same as it ever was'... Gents, we have to be a bit more friendly and choose our words carefully these days -- especially to new members. The Internet isn't the same as it ever was. Clubs like ours are fading out in comparison to the big social media sites. I'd like to know that our club is known for permanent content and a group of people that wants to help. The written word is a powerful thing, and the conversation that follows it can define who we are.
  2. Hey guys, I just reviewed this thread because it was reported to me. There were a few violations of the rules, but, most of it was on topic. One thing I ask is that you please try to be civil with each other as if you were standing in the same room. I am not going to go through and give violations this evening because I think you can figure out how and when you can be good to each other. The main objective of our club is to help others and collect information for the car. Debates can sometimes get heated, so I trust that you guys can keep it civil. We can only survive this modern world of media websites if we do these things.. We need people and a welcoming environment for all.. Thanks guys. Mike
  3. Oy. How bout them E-A-G-L-E-S!!!!! Captain Out.
  4. That is unfortunate!!! Maybe it was not what the forum had to offer you in the way of links or network but what you had to offer the forum...
  5. I understand the reasoning for moving the pivot holes. I believe Cliff shimmed a needle and seat to move it down. Keep in mind that they did work with unequal lengths from the factory and they had a reason for doing it, the reason escapes me right now. I believe it was G forces. BUT, as I stated before, the mixture adjustment screws are FINE TUNE ADJUSTMENTS ONLY. The primary mixture adjustment is the float (fuel) level adjustment. Until the float level is very close to the proper setting, the fine tune adjustments (mixture screw) are not going to compensate for float levels that are too high or low. Pull the damned tops off the carbs and tell me where the fuel level is in relation to the tops of the nozzles at 2 1/2 turns down. Until we get that settled, all else is uninformed guess work.
  6. Much has been said lately about Nissan's dilemma of how to continue the Z bloodline and satisfy SUV demand at the same time. They're still working on it. https://jalopnik.com/nissan-is-just-gonna-send-it-with-370zki-concept-1822709214
  7. Shall we define "nitpick"? How about "comments from people who might know a little more than you initially thought they do"? You would have swallowed anything he wrote. Go back and look at your reaction to his 'Ken & Mary' story. You almost fainted in a swoon. I was getting ready with the smelling salts. I've said it before and I'll say it again, "nitpicking" (and whatever else you want to call it) is the very lifeblood of a forum like this. That's part of the process of us coming to understand these cars properly and making the forum worth its salt. We have - in case some of you newcomers haven't noticed - been at it for a few years now. If cowboy Florida Fred over here doesn't like it then that's his loss. This is an automotive forum not a dating site.
  8. Dang. Does anyone have a hook?
  9. Ok. Let me set both nozzles at 2.5 and send you a picture of each.
  10. I'm not even asking for something that intimidating. I just want him to remove the suction chambers, pistons and see where the fuel levels are when the mixture screws (nozzles) are 2 1/2 turns down. The mixture screws can be returned to their original setting after the test. Both carbs could be done in under 5 minutes. Then it may be time to move on to resetting floats but not until we're sure they need it.
  11. Either you missed his professed antipathy to forums early in the thread (precis: "I'm usually above all this, but I'm looking for a car...") or you yourself are suffering from a slight dose of cognitive bias. He was only here looking for something. He got it. He doesn't like forums. He's probably not coming back. I didn't push him out. He didn't want to be part of our little tree house community in the first place. Overnight, rain comes and washes away the dog pee from the lamp post. Life goes on. There's probably a Talking Heads lyric that deals with it...
  12. This is some weird psychology going on here, isn't there? I see a ton of cognitive bias. Believing what you hope to be true, instead of seeing what is. Or maybe it's just plain old confusion. Throwing insults when you're confused is pretty common. Thanks for the "compliment" Diseazd. Also, don't really know what to think about somebody who lets a single person drive them away (note - I'm not the one). Seems like pazt is letting HS30 push him out. Which might be what HS30 wanted. The pond is too small. Alrighty then. This thread is about dead. Let some days go by...
  13. ......a beautiful car AND a beautiful wife. pazt2prezent.....hang around old boy.....you won’t believe the good info on this forum....it takes a lot of personalities to form a forum. Some can irritate, but they sure know their stuff. Zedhead can be a D***head sometimes (lol), but he’ll find an answer to your problems. Hang around a while....I think you’ll fit right in. After all.....they are great little cars....that’s what it’s all about!
  14. I agree... I have no idea why mine agreed to hang out with the likes of me..
  15. Maybe he's a little intimidated by removing the float chamber lids? It is a little tough until you figure out how they need to be turned from horizontal to vertical to get the float to slip by, also RTVing the gaskets to the lids makes it much easier in the future. I would do what Black Gold Man suggested, go to that race track's pit area and find a Datsun mechanic. Seems like he is using a Porsche guy? I quit reading a year or so ago, my hair was falling out because I was "pulling my hair out" from frustration.
  16. Thought that house burnt down?
  17. Works well. https://zcardepot.com/carburetor-float-sync-tool-su-240z.html
  18. Found it, thanks! It was in chit chat, so, I moved to the heating and a/c forum.. Thanks.
  19. My car has rust in the very bottom rear quarters on both sides. I got an IG message from Bimmer740 yesterday because he saw a Z31 at the local yard. Turns out it was also an 86 and had rust free rear quarters. How cool was this?! I sent him a nice bonus for the time/effort. My body guy was going to make them but now he has plenty of material to work with.
  20. It's your thread, we can take it any where you want. Can't high jack your own thread! you will find that almost all of the regulars here are good people and very observant of the details!!!
  21. Well this post got a little weird. Stick to what's right? Maybe we need to remember we are dealing with classic cars and not what to do with a nuclear North Korea?
