  1. Had a nice sunny day today, so I backed the car out for a couple pics.
  2. At the risk of sounding redundant, I wanted to put together a coilover list. There are a few of these threads/topics around the internet already, but lots of them are from years towards 2006 (I didn't even have my driver's license yet) and have old, outdated links, or are not very comprehensive and easy to read. I am looking at coilover sets for my '78 280z so these links will be specific to that (mainly so I can reference it later). Assume that all are ride-height adjustable. I didn't look super hard for lowest price, so the options may be cheaper somewhere else. But I suppose if you can tolerate a monthly payment A PORSCHE is a good make to live with. I guess the 911 won't carry enough groceries? Does your car stsy that clean inside all the time? WOW

  6. VROOOOOM....VROOOOM! They probably sound llike that!
  7. This is truly inspirational. There might be better ways to bond but I struggle to think of any. Maybe one day for them, at least thats the plan!

New Porsche Macan S should arrive in Houston on Friday
  9. My buddy found two posts on 311s.org that claims its a 28mm or 1-1/8" on a 1600. Take both
  10. I think from the fuel rail to the carburetors may be 1/4" or 6 mm. I would think the fuel line between the hard lines and fuel pumps would be 8 mm since 5/16" fits nicely. I would think 10 mm (3/8") would be too loose. That is only my opinion since I didn't look it up in the FSM.
  11. Anyone who gets offended at someone politely offering a correction needs thicker skin. Are we not here to weed out the BS from the facts? I've spent a good amount of time with the search function on here and HybridZ, and there's a LOT of BS in older threads that goes unchecked. I will admit that in the past, Alan's so-called nitpicking has not always been appreciated (although I do generally appreciate the knowledge he shares, and the accuracy of it), but having read the original correction, and the response from the thread starter, I don't see the problem. I was surprised he took it so poorly, like it was an attack on him. Too much pride to accept criticism. That attitude isn't going to get you very far. I haven't really read past the first page, but I think JSM's post quoted in post #76 touches on a good point. There comes a time where you've made your point and driving it in further doesn't make you look good, especially on something that is so minor. Pick your battles, and know when to simply bow out.
  12. Maybe he's a little intimidated by removing the float chamber lids? It is a little tough until you figure out how they need to be turned from horizontal to vertical to get the float to slip by, also RTVing the gaskets to the lids makes it much easier in the future. I would do what Black Gold Man suggested, go to that race track's pit area and find a Datsun mechanic. Seems like he is using a Porsche guy? I quit reading a year or so ago, my hair was falling out because I was "pulling my hair out" from frustration.
  13. I think ZH meant that it's the 'same as it ever was'... Gents, we have to be a bit more friendly and choose our words carefully these days -- especially to new members. The Internet isn't the same as it ever was. Clubs like ours are fading out in comparison to the big social media sites. I'd like to know that our club is known for permanent content and a group of people that wants to help. The written word is a powerful thing, and the conversation that follows it can define who we are.
  14. I get that this is the internet, I get your intelligent, I get your knowledgeable about facts, I get your articulate and I get your OCD. The original thread starter, however, obviously took you comments wrong for whatever reason. I get that too. We all have things rub us the wrong way. Understanding you've ruffled his feathers, instead of dropping it, apologizing or wording it in way that you know you could have as an expert, you continued to add why the facts you know are the only right ones and that you own "genuine" one. Clearly, regardless of the facts you know about cars, the way you handled this is simply wrong. You understood he took it as an insult but didn't care because the facts were more important to YOU. How is this inviting to a newbie in anyway? BTW, fender mirrors will still get in my way and I don't like how they look!
  15. Oy. How bout them E-A-G-L-E-S!!!!! Captain Out.
  16. I agree with Patcon, . Jalex, IMHO, YOU should be the one tuning these carbs. You don't need no freak'in "expert" or even a "mechanic". You'll be glad you learned how. Let me try to convince you with a trip in my WayBack Machine. 1973, The first thing I worried about when I bought my first Z was the horror stories I'd heard about British cars with SU duel carbs and constantly having to tinker with them. I didn't know anything about them, sooo, I took it to a "sports car garage" for it's first tuneup. $76.00 (a fair amount of money in 1973) later I drove the car home and realized that the tune-up hadn't changed the way it ran, which was good, before and after. I realized that I couldn't afford frequent tune-ups at that price. (Thought it would need them) I bought a Uni-Syn and a repair manual and started cleaning and checking the carbs when I tuned it up. They were always fine. It wasn't until I took a suction chamber off, out of curiosity, that I realized how simple the whole thing was. I already knew about float chambers and had read the tune-up manual. It was the EUREKA MOMENT. There was little to them. Not as complicated as a downdraft carb. To this day I'm amazed at how simple and effective the SU's are and still don't understand where the fear factor came from, unless it was the British aspect. You can do it. Give it a try. All it takes is a balancing gizmo, a screwdriver, a tune-up manual and a beer.
  17. I have dealt with Z therapy more than once and their service and products are outstanding!!!!! Maybe it's operator error?
