DIY Home Built Vapor Blasting/ Honing Cabinet , wetblasting
I got another set of rough 44s. Strangely they were fully functional though. They came out amazing. Now off to have them rebuilt. I assume it gets everywhere and will need to be thoroughly cleaned and sonic bathed.3 points

[SOLD] 75 280Z For Sale
2 pointsI just like looking at nice cars for sale. And people get on this forum all the time asking if the car that they're looking at is worth the money. So, big picture wise, my questions will probably help you make a sale. You didn't say why one picture shows a rectangular side mirror and one shows circular. I have those circular mirrors on my car, bought from MSA. Just wondering. If I wasn't asking, it would just be a silver 1975 car with nice paint, nice wheels, and early bumpers, and a lot of unknowns, for a relatively high price. Good luck!2 points

Another unfinished project for sale in WA
We could solve them all but we'd be preaching to the choir. However, it would be a kick in the a$$ to be able to sit around over a beer (over 105 craft breweries in Portland metro area) and agree with each other. We'll keep you in the loop when we settle on a time and date. How far N of The Couv are you?1 point

Another unfinished project for sale in WA
I was pondering this very topic at work today. In the NW we seem to have two paths cars go down. 1) is they are stored in a garage because it is so wet and rainy here. Thus we end up with cars in good shape just unfinished projects such as this one. 2) they are stored outside and end up rust buckets, like the cars I have found and parted. It's funny I hardly ever see Z's driving around, at least in my neck of the woods. Although I do see a lot of ad's for them on CL and Offer Up. Mine was a Portland car I bought in Vancouver WA. There was a smashed 72 in the JY about the same time I bought mine, that was a local Centralia Car. Al's City Motors (Ford's and Datsun's)1 point

Weber selection and initial jet tuning
Yes, I did reinstall the washers before putting in the new seal. My understanding is that ultimately the wipe pattern is setup by the lash pad as it still sits directly on top of the valve itself since it's flat on the bottom. So the retainers shouldn't have any impact on that geometry. The picture of the pads sitting in the retainers before installation isn't really representative of how they sit once installed on the valve.1 point

1973 240z Fuel Not Flowing
1 pointMy reason for saying this is a lot of people have plugged all the vent lines trying to get the gas smell out of their hatch. Another reason is they have plenty of "vents". Is it the 10mm one in this picture? If so I think you'll be okay but then you have the other end of the hose that went to it to deal with. It'll be #7 in this drawing and connects to the bottom of the evap tank in the hatch. If you can find the tank end of that hose stick a bolt or something inside it to seal it off. Those tanks may build up enough vapor to form some liquid that could drip out.1 point

Ok, got my valve spring removal tool yesterday finally. So I removed the retainer/spring from the valve in question (#4 intake). IMG_4715 by blodi, on Flickr There was a washer under the spring and one under the valve seal as well....normal? IMG_4716 by blodi, on Flickr Washers and new valve seal installed.... IMG_4717 by blodi, on Flickr New Schneider valve spring and retainer on left....old on right... IMG_4718 by blodi, on Flickr .170 lash pads installed in each... IMG_4719 by blodi, on Flickr Installed...... IMG_4721 by blodi, on Flickr Rocker arm back in place and lash adjusted.... IMG_4723 by blodi, on Flickr You can see that the lash pad certainly fits much further down into the Schneider retainer than the old one. I started the car for about 30 seconds and then my 1 year old woke up and I had to call it a night. Didn't hear any tapping though....but hopefully tonight I'll have a chance to start it up and let it warm up and see what is what. If all is well...I'll have to maybe spend my day off on Monday replacing all the rest of the springs retainers. Oh, also...I was able to spin the valve around freely and didn't feel any binding. It had just a tiny amount of play in the valve guide...not sure what is "normal" there but it didn't feel excessive.1 point

Cleaned pistons and other parts
1 pointI was wondering what the shiny stuff was. I'm less worried about the adhesion to the tubes. I'm more worried about the adhesion to the aluminum blocks. You can solder to aluminum, but it's really finicky. (and I've never tried) Thanks for the vote of confidence! I'll wear it with pride! Those old bars are just not worth the risk.1 point

'75 280z - Head temp sensor question
N42 it is So if I understand this all correctly, that temp sensor + the N47 marking means the head is the (smaller chamber) Maxima head.. and would make this particular setup higher compression than the standard N47 head+N42 block?1 point

Fairlady Z - Date of manufacture
1 pointNo, each prefix ('S30'/'PS30'/'HS30'/'HLS30'/'RS30'/'RLS30' etc etc) had it's own serial number sequence, so - theoretically - you could line up 'S30-00023', 'PS30-00023', 'HS30-00023' and 'HLS30-00023' and the "#23" of each other prefix type alongside each other at a virtual car show. The body serial number sequences ran at different production rates for each prefix and with gaps where deemed useful or necessary, so it's best not to think of them as linear and/or directly comparable with each other.1 point
