  1. I'm thinking that you have, basically, an L26 with a bigger than stock valves. Here's an engine calculator to play around with. Looks like about 8.3 CR,which is 280Z L28 range. The head doesn't look shaved, the letters still have a lot of metal under them. http://www.ozdat.com/ozdatonline/enginedesign/ I would check valve lash and the wipe pattern on the rocker arm pads. People make mistakes, or sometimes just throw a bunch of parts together. The N42 head's valves would hit the sides of an L24 bore, unless the bore has been relieved. Might want to turn the engine carefully by hand to be sure there's no interference, before using the starter.

  3. I got back from field training for the weekend and only have another day before I am back out in the mud and fields of Wainwright. Just enough time to change a noisy wheel bearing on my rear driver side in the 370Z and install the new rubber brake and clutch pedal covers on the 280Z! I drove the 370Z a little on Monday but the Ventus V12’s are showing the steel bands... 27,000 kms and worn out already! Oh well, better than the Dunlop’s that only got 17,000 kms. 305 30R19’s aren’t cheap. Back to work!

I apologize for forgetting to do this earlier but here is a picture that should give you the basics of what I did on the 5/8" evap hose on top of my fuel tank, the 180 degree bend. 3/4 PEX elbow fits 5/8" fuel hose nice and snug, use the worm clamps like in this picture. I laid the old hose on the floor and copied the bend with the new hose and PEX fittings. If you need anything else let me know. Cliff
  5. Worked on the valve cover over the weekend and also took the rest of the engine bay off for zinc. Got a new NOS ballast for my ignition and also upgraded to electronic pertronix coil and points. 1.5ohm coil so hopefully my tach works. Valve cover is wrinkle powder coated black. I love how it turned out.

  9. I used 3/4 PEX fittings on my 240's 5/8" 180 bends. 2 90 degree fittings worked good. O'Reilly is the only parts store around me that had that 5/8" fuel hose on hand. I'll try and find a picture when I get my laptop out in the morning.

    Got some more pics of my gauges and other lights inside the cabin. Again, all the following pictures have been shot in manual exposure mode with a white balance set at 5000K. Here’s a pic of the three small gauges with bulb number 6 from my previous post. Here’s a pic of the speedo and tach. I also put LED bulbs in the turn signal indicators, high beam indicator, and brake warning light in the gauges. I tried a couple different bulbs but forgot to take before and after pictures. These are what I used. For the turn signals I got green bulbs from superbrightleds.com. https://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinfo/ba9s-ba7s/ba9s-led-bulb-1-led-ba9s-retrofit-car/3/#/attributes/15 Green. 90°. 4 Lumens. BA9s These bulbs are perfect. Obviously brighter than the stock tungsten bulb, but not overpowering. Got a red bulb of the same variety for the brake warning light and the fuel warning light. Again, brighter then stock but not too much. Since my car is a 1975 California car, it has a floor temp warning light and catalyst warning light. Here’s a pic of the bulbs tested for the catalyst warning light. I don’t have a pic of the cigarette lighter socket but I do have one of the HVAC controls replaced with an LED. When I had my combo switches re-built a couple years ago I sprung for the map light LED from Dave at www.datsun-240z-upgrades.net. Here’s a pic of the stock bulb. Here’s a pic of the LED bulb from datsun-240z-upgrades.net. It’s way brighter and the map light is actually very useful now. The only interior bulbs not replaced with LED's in my car are the dome light and the glove box light. I swapped an LED in the glove box light but it did not work. The polarity needs to be reversed and I didn't get around to it yet. Here's my bulb count so far for a '75 2+2.
