  1. Thank you everyone! I love both TOPY STEEL and KOBE SEIKO magnesium. I visited my friend on Monday, I was surprised that my friend bought the set of Z432 wheel ! The seller has owned his Z432 since he bought it new from Nissan , he took of them when he scratched edge one of them . That was 40 years or more ago ,then they were on his shelves until showing up on the auction. He is a doctor, doctor loves Z432 ... I check them and they are truly original and fantastic appearance.   3. Hi Blue , I was surprised you are doing it , how can you do it ? It helps a lot for understanding its details , original photo is not good to figure out what each pieces are . Here are the color pictures , and the one showing the engine bay looks the same car what we are talking about . Could you see the float has two pipes at one connector? Kats

  5. That's my safety strategy, the crumple zone on my Z starts at the firewall and ends just behind the seats.
  6. Well, I took a chance. I've wasted $169 on worse. A few folks chimed in saying they go theirs fine and I used a Credit Card I rarely use.

  8. A while ago I heard that HS30 00021 was in South Africa and was a blue colour. The magazine article has a lot of errors but does say the chassis no. is 21. But I think we can conclude it is an HS30 given it's a early 240z and RHD. I have many quite a few early S30z's (HS30s) were dealer demo cars scattered around RH drive regions. #16 was from Norfolk Island and #11 was from Paupau New Guinea and both by chance eventually made their way to Australia. Unfortunately neither of them managed to retain their L24. I've found HS30s with Blue interiors but they were always white. Some had red interiors but they were white or silver cars, this is the first surviving example HS30 that I've seen with Blue/Blue combo. But I have no idea if anymore were configured like this. Since 1998 when I first started looking at these cars in Australia I've never seen such a combination. Which means it's either 1 of 1 or a very rare combination indeed. 903 Blue HS30s are thin on the ground in general and seem to account for around 3% of cars I've counted so far. My guess is that as Alan stated someone in South Africa had a good working relationship with Nissan Japan and was able to make a special order request. That's the suspicion anyway.
  9. The more one looks, the more one finds ? Here is fuel rail on HLS30-00249 in that area. Throttle shaft looks the same but the bracket is closer to the middle of the engine: HLS30-00013 looks the same as #249
  10. This was my first Branson Zfest event! I enjoyed every moment, despite the heat. I want to especially thank Mike W, Zup, David Johnson for your willingness to provide suggestions to me, being new to the scene. My 1981 280ZX is in a million pieces right now and I hope to have it ready by next year. Keeping it original stock. The body itself is in excellent condition but I have a lot of cleaning to do to get the engine back to looking like new. And thanks to Zup for pointing me to classiczcars.com and the plating discussion thread! Awesome.
  11. she was an easy tug, I actually planted the car from the top down essentially. Jacked up the low side and let it hold there for a couple days, Today i released it and it settled in good. Once i weld the inner fenders back to the frame rails she will be true and the improvement in appearance is huge already! After this though I move into the job regarding those upper bulkheads. it wont be a ton of fun but ill get through it! thanks guys
  12. No it didn't, I was really just guessing as to it's use. I thought it may have been an older method of fuel return line, but I see that's still there on this early prototype. So I can only guess maybe it was an attempt to run cooler fuel through the carb bodies before returning to the tank? I know the Mikuni's have this ability, but few actually utilise it.
  13. Those are road wheel cover (s) 40315-E4101or E4400 which replaced E4100. Although my book says applicable to 7/73, I know that E8800 was used for the '72 model year beginning in late '71. They appear to be original with original factory markings and typical surface rust on the inside. They fit all the standard road wheel sizes.
  14. In a nutshell, yes. I believe that's the most simple and logical explanation, and all the evidence - including that for other Nissan products - points that way.
  15. Good point. I recall a coolant hardline that wrapped around the back of the head for running coolant through later manifolds but did it terminate so high up where the fuel rail is and was it on early models?
  16. Hey Kats, I figure this might be of interest to you. It looks like HS30 00021 in South Africa and it appears to be the first HS30 I've seen in 903 Blue with a Blue interior like your HLS30! https://photos.app.goo.gl/wjZaemBmiz73ygIm1 I was excited to see it because up until this point I have only seen 904 white / blue cars in Australia and I only know of about 6 or 7 such cars.
  17. Perhaps it's a fuel line to run cool fuel through the intake to help lower intake temps? Like the cooling bodies on Mikuni / Solex carbs?
  18. Hi Kats, Another mystery ? I re-coloured one of the red photos from the service manual. I hope you enjoy it. In doing so, I noticed two unusual features that did not make it to production. 1. The fuel rail to carb hoses are very light in colour (not black). 2. There seem to be three of these hoses coming from the rail rather than just two. ( 1 to the front fuel bowl, 1 to the rear fuel bowl, 1 that seems to go to the fuel bowl area [see second picture]) Any idea on what material the hoses are made and the purpose of the third hose?

If file photos of Kojyo Shisaku and Seisan Shisaku cars (by definition 'Pre Series Production') are being cited as what is *correct* on full Series Production parts, we will soon descend into a whole new world of reappraisal. Where do we start? No paint code sticker? No voltage regulator shield? There be dragons... Ockham's Razor applies: The air filter housing in the first post is a Nissan replacement part in manufacturer Tsuchiya's house blue. Nissan didn't supply them in the production line orange/red shade when sold as spare parts.
  20. Branson ZFest 2018 is yet another of the most significant moments in my life-----memories I will keep forever. The unqualified pure "goodness" of the Z community we are all a part of is alive and most evident here. Thousands of dollars were raised in charity for impoverished children---providing food and basic hygiene items for those in need in the surrounding area. Organizers and volunteers of this annual event of 15 years tirelessly and unselfishly devote time and energy to make this one of the best weeks of the year----- such a departure from the daily myopic "me" world in which most of us exist. To those in attendance I thank you for restoring faith in human kindness toward those less fortunate than us. Poverty and need exists all around---even in the shadows of the shows and promoted attractions that fuse to make Branson glisten. To anyone contemplating attending next year or in the future ---- may I please encourage you to come---it is like nothing else and your definition of FAMILY will change forever. On a lighter note, may I dangle the lure of an inside Air Conditioned ZCON held in the heat of July!! When was the last time you did that??? Sure to be fun for all----endless Z conversations for the guys and lots of shops for those disinterested or ambivalent ladies! So please--- make plans now to join us next July for ZFest/ZCON 2019!!!

    The motor is pretty much ready to start. I am waiting for the exhaust to show so it can be bolted on. It is coming from California Datsun. I started this motor project with good friend at Miner Automotive. I still have my 240 block that came out of the car. I felt that some day I may have fun building it. Unfortunately it is not matching numbers. My grandma had mentioned that they had the motor replaced and no longer had the original when I got it from her. So with that said we decided to build up a F54 block with bored flat tops and original e88 head. I ordered some z therapy carbs and here it is ready to fire. Not sure my grandpa would understand the polished parts . But I got carried away making it mine. My mission has been to keep everything stock except the motor and obviously color. My grandpa always wanted to paint it silver so keeping it green wasn’t the best option. So I chose a tint of silver “charcoal “ it is a Nissan color though.   25. On the only 78 I've ever seen with the GM HEI module modification done on the 78 distributor, he left the stock module in place reasoning that if he ever wanted to return it to stock that would make it easier. Are you having trouble with the OEM setup? I never did.
