  1. Courtesy of Hoover Plate and number match but stickers vary. Either different stages or different races.
  2. Ever since i read about Autocar UK Magazine testing one of the 240Z Works rallye Cars in 1970 in the "Race and Rallye Car" Magazine Article, i was wondering what it's all about. I thought it could be interesting not only for me, but for many of my followers, so i contacted Autocar since i wasn't able to find a printed copy online, allthough im sure i would if i was waiting long enough for one to show up. I know at least one person who has the printed original magazine issue ? Today Autocar UK replied me with the complete Article of the Test they did as a part of the December 1970 Issue. Big thanks to Matt B. (Executive Editor at www.autocar.co.uk) for not only searching the old article for me and sending it, but also for allowing me to publish it here. THANK YOU! Click the following link to get the full 3-paged article as high-res pdf file: Autocar Dec 1970 Works rallye car test www.JDMjunkies.ch
  3. Kathy and I will be there too.
  4. Seats arrived that I ordered back in February. Real Japanese Bride Stradia II gradient with carbon/kevlar backs. I chose these seats for multiple reasons. The gradient reminds me of the Z31 Shiro Recaro's, the kevlar back matches the safari gold exterior (photo below), they are super comfortable/fit me perfectly, recline and lastly, they only weigh around 22 lbs vs the stock 60 lbs. And my favorite beer, falcon smash by triple crossings compared to the safari gold 920 as well. Coincidence or fate? Lastly, a Shiro interior to show the theme I am going for. I got extra Bride gradient fabric for the door panel inserts as well.
  5. It was a nice article for the time, and a valiant effort to get into the details of the car, but lots of little 'secrets' went over their heads. These cars were far from standard, and what they were actually looking at was effectively a super lightweight 432-R type bodyshell with an L24 installed. That L24 was far, far from standard (not surprising that the Works team played their cards close to their chest) as it had a different crank, rods, pistons, oil pan, flywheel, clutch, cam, modified E31 head and all sort of other little tricks. Very deep subject.
  6. Finally got the radiator back from the shop yesterday. Whenever I have this type work done I always specify "no paint". Cleanup the tanks and frame with a Dremel and a cup brush, wipe down with wax and grease remover, tape up and primer. Wet sanding and gloss black paint on the schedule for tomorrow.
  7. No open casket. Just an urn with a Z on it. The cremation will take place at the time of the accident.
  8. I had a 78 parts car and it did not have a ballast. I think that it was the first "high energy" ignition system used on the Z's. They even upped the spark plug gap. Except for Canada. Maybe Canada still had the old system.
  9. Here is the 78 ignition system per the FSM. Here is the 76 Ignition system per the FSM. I would say that your assumption is correct. The wiring breakdown on EE-25 of the 78 FSM also does not show a ballast resistor.
  10. That's gonna make the open casket visitation awkward...
  11. You need to make your nickname on your ID "Job" for all your tuning efforts!
  12. The stock 77 seats are all vinyl. Your seats appear to be aftermarket. Any of the earlier covers should fit. You can get new excellent repro door cards in black from Zcardepot.
  13. You might want to check the bag on that Hoover. It sucked up a picture of a different car on a different event. As you can see on the door, this is from the 1972 RAC Rally and it is a different car.
  14. Done, Cody and I are in...
  15. Jeff, will you be making a vegas run?
  16. @Home Built by Jeff I don't think I ever saw you comment on your new primer gun. Do you like it? Is it worth it to invest in high quality guns?
  17. I have a mini 12v compressor with the spare. Test inflated it 3 or 4 years ago, seemed fine for emergency's, but one day will probably go the Captain's route.
  18. Picked up the wiring harness poster from the printer today,
  19. 1 point
Thanks, me too. I think it had Shelley pretty wound up. I thought she was gonna kill us, driving us there! Did you see the dimensions in the other thread? Not interested!!!! They really aren't that tasty!
  20. Aren't our hoods supposed to come in through the glass and cut off our heads?
  21. 240z's don't really have much in the way of crush zones anyway, thin bumpers, light sheet metal, thin doors, lap belts, etc. The later cars got better but they are not modern multi air bag cars. Some risk comes with the territory. Sort of like riding a motorcycle, you just have to drive defensively. The likelihood that the tubing comes straight into the passenger compartment is fairly low. Personally I am glad my local government doesn't micromanage me. I'm a big boy and can make tough choices all on my own. That is not intended to be insulting to anyone here, I just don't need a bureaucrat parent...the two I had are gone now, God bless them, and I'm not shopping for replacements
