When you transition, it is the damper that prevents the piston (and needle) from moving too fast or too slow. @Austin 1800 If the damper opens too fast, you will go lean during transition, if it opens too slow, you will go rich during transition. You can experiment by removing the oil from the plunger and test driving then replace the oil with a thick 30wt and test driving to see the two extreme transition speeds of the piston and judge if this is helpful. As you mention it could be advance. It also could be SU piston binding or wrong needle profile. Are your carbs balanced? If not, have a look here: https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/39221-quick-and-dirty-su-tuning/?tab=comments#comment-352697
  3. I want to thank you for all of your replies. It means a lot, especially as I am a novice. I have decided to attempt to do it myself. Doesn’t look like I can make it any worse! Ha! Your advice has been extremely helpful. I love this car! It has been a dream of mine to own one. I just had a baby, she is 4 months old so progress will be slow on the car But I will update the thread as i get stuff done so others like me can learn. This is truly a great community.
  4. yeah, these right? https://zcarsource.com/door-lock-pull-240z-260z-280z-70-78-black-new That's all I can find online. That's why I am unsure if mine are OEM...
  5. Interesting... Same picture as Interior Innovations http://www.interior-innovations.com/assets/uploads/66350-IMG_0434.jpg
  6. Good for you to tackle that job, and congrats on the baby, if she is your 1st welcome to the roller coaster of parent hood. They grow very fast out of the stage, so enjoy while you can. I would suggest you get a good quality welder, think of it as a long term investment, be prepared to spend 1k min. I got a cheap o from HF to weld up some exhaust pipe. Should have spent the money for a 120/240 with more controls on current. I got the 240 which is a pain to power up, I would think that the 120 option should be fine for thin sheet metal. Also buy a big cylinder of shield gas, don't be tempted to try using flux rod, makes a big mess. As a novice I think the best possible equipment will make the experience less pain, and also get some scrap body parts to practice on.
  7. Thanks for the replies. That's what I thought. Just another ebay dreamer. Too bad. If that car was worth 47,500 mine would be worth 60,000! ?
  8. I've played around with three different types of LED headlights. I've never needed the anti flicker. I also have LEDs for parking lights, turn signals, and almost all of the dash lights. I had converted the headlight circuit to relays with switched positives before I ever played with the LED headlights. I know there are several threads on this board where I have advised people about using relays (and switched positive) with LED headlights.
  9. And, don't the wheel wells need to be cut to get those big tires under there? Some pictures from below would be nice. Not a single shot from underneath. Seems like a very nice but not extraordinary 78 280Z with many common parts. KYB, Vogtland, JDM fender flares. Made to look like a 240Z with the hood and bumpers. $20,000 seems generous.
  10. More accurately, Filet Mignon, Ribeye, T-bone and then Dog meat. Interestingly, to me at least, is that the Nissan dealership is called Palm Springs Nissan and is NOT located in Palm Springs. Same with Palm Springs Ford, Palm Springs Volvo, Palm Springs Subaru, Palm Springs Kia, Palm Springs Infiniti, and Palm Springs Mitsubishi. For years, we had an Infiniti dealer in town, but the dealership left about a month ago. So, no more Japanese dealers, no American dealers, just three German and a Korean all lined up side by side. An odd mix for sure. Dennis
  11. Holy cow that was fast. Very, very well packed. My son was like you have some package from China. I can’t figure what it is. Totally fogot I ordered it. Should I leave it in the kitchen until the wife yells at me!
  12. I drove mine from Florida to Lexington Steam Corners to Santa Barbara and back. The best 6300 miles I ever spent!
  13. You need to test it first. Make sure you get your eyes to bug out like the picture. There's an illustration of the filter change also. This is from 1976.
  14. My local Nissan dealer seems as though they couldn't care less whether I exist or not. At this point, I try to never go in there. No discount off full retail, and no understanding that I sometimes might even know what I'm talking about.
