    Alright everyone, thank you so much for the feed back. I'm finally back home and have some additional info... please bear with me. Two years ago I installed new OEM wheel cylinders (not cheap) from zcar depot. Last year I only drove the car twice because something bad happened inside my engine. I talked the wife into letting be buy a 2.7 stroker from Datsun spirit. Now I have an auto trans so I rarely set the e-brake. The first night of the engine install the car was on jack stands so I left the e-brake applied. The next morning I discovered a puddle of brake fluid under the rear drives tire. It appeared to be leaking from the hard/ soft line junction. So I tightened that up and cleaned everything up. Sadly the next night I discover it was still leaking. I cleaned everything up and decided to check once I got home. The strange thing is that it has not leaked since. I have about 450 miles on the engine and the rear wheel has no fluid leaking. I'm home this weekend so I plan to bleed it, but I'm still confused about what happened and why. Sorry if this ran a little long.Heres a picture of the new engine because picture make threads better.   3. So somehow I have 4 going at once. Been too busy to play on the forums much lately . 71 is my car , which is the continuous project. Did take first place at the Midwest Heritage show this past weekend ! 70 is sitting on the rotisserie sideways to make enough room for the 30k mile 77 that just showed up from Reno. Then there’s the 83 720 4WD that’s supposed to be my retirement truck. I probably have to retire just to finish it at this rate. Having fun juggling all this, but it s almost too much. Might have to give up my RR career to concentrate on the Z studio projects .
  4. Good idea ZH but I had them spliced in by the time I read your post. Getting some surface finishing done, console was lightly sanded with 240 grit a 2 coats of SEM Landau black, All of the bumper rubber looks pretty sad, can't tell if a PO painted them at some point or that is just age but sanded all the rubber with 240 grit them burnished with the 3M Grey scuff pads then a couple of coats of Auto Glim tire dressing, This is a spare valve cover that will go on the 280z, wet blasted, a coat of GIBBS oil.
  5. OK gang, I promised updates and here they are: I have product! Whoo hoo!!! The package arrived a while ago and I got everything open and inspected. The packaging was very good, all sealed in a durable tape. The bumper parts were very well wrapped in bubble, then fabric, then clear tape. The finish is outstanding - looks like chrome. The kit includes the bolts to connect the end caps to the center bar - note the square holes are larger than an OE bumper. I intend to work on the install this weekend (100 degrees forecast for here! ), I'll post more updates on that. Here's some info on the timeline: I ordered and paid on 05/25, asked that the PayPal invoice state 1971 240Z rear bumper, no rubber, no holes. They complied perfectly. Shipping to TX was previously quoted at ~10 days. Tracking was not initially provided and they sent a followup email yesterday to check on the arrival and satisfaction (nice touch). I replied not yet, didn't have tracking to check. They immediately sent UPS tracking that showed delivery scheduled for today. The pkg. was handed to UPS in Viet Nam on 06/18 and leads me to believe their process is a make-to-order. That makes sense to me as they advertise a huge assortment of bumpers available. Keep tuned to this station for more on this continuing story...

  8. I did headers and deleted the EGR pump side of things. On my series 1 PCV and carb venting I went with the ITG filter and tapped both the valve cover with AN10 fittings and carburetor vents with regular fuel line to the back plate so they'd still flow as designed and kept the stock PCV setup which I think is a good thing. I used the MSA 50mm height velocity stacks which are fairly close to the stock air filter stack height. After the dealership drilled the big holes in my 1973 stock orange box to help with the vapor lock issue I figured this setup is very close to stock and also looks pretty darn good.

  10. Wouldn't they be throwing peanuts? Did you read the ad copy? It's a consignment shop, blowing up its goodness. Blame the shop. They hyped it as perfect. " He meticulously kept record of every maintenance item he ever preformed to the car, from day one! Including, gas, oil changes, and repairs. This particular 240z has a rich history as well as a showroom new look with less then 49,000 original miles. It is completely original and unmolested. That means this car has stayed in showroom new condition for 47 years! Meaning, it is a special part of Datsun history."
  11. Battery cables not original. Those blue PU sway bar end link bushings are a complete buzz killer along with the exhaust patch complete with the famously "original" worm gear clamp @JSM mentioned. Nice car but wtf---why nose dive it on minor details if you are asking top dollar. All dressed up in a tux and a booger hanging off your nose!
