Installed 4 post lift to get garage ready for my next Z project

I little victory today, I would never have got this spacer off while the intake was still on the engine,

Replaced my old painted black wiper arms and faded out black plastic wiper holders with cleaned up SS arms and OEM SS twin wire wiper holders. Thanks to @240260280 for trading these to me last year.

1982 Datsun/Nissan 280ZX. 102,000 miles. A true "survivor" car. Original paint, original interior with no rips, tears or cracks. Original engine. Absolutely NO RUST. Close to $8,000 invested less than 4K miles ago. New power antenna, new steering rack, new brakes (calipers and rotors), new belts and hoses, new fuel injectors, new shocks and struts, new rubber bushings, new power window motor (passenger side), new wiper blades, new battery, new windshield washer motor. Any electrical problems all repaired. Compression excellent on all cylinders (approximately 170#). This car has been well cared for - always garaged. Willing to provide paperwork from mechanic to verify all work done. Asking $10,500 OBO

I have a really high ceiling, I thought about having the door raised so that I don't have to back the car onto the ramp when I park something underneath. The problem is, I have two large hanging storage racks that I don't care to give up and would have to be removed if the garage door is raised. With that in mind my solution is to put a stop pin on the lift mechanism so that the car wont go high enough to hit the door. I really just need it to go high enough to get the other car underneath + about 10" extra which is what I have. I may change my mind later but for now, I will run with it this way. I have room in my garage for the cars to be side to side but then I have to pull one out to have room to work. This configuration give me work space and no more rolling around on my back for things like clutch swaps etc! I get a lot of questions about the lift so here are some answers to FAQ's... Brand: Titan XLT, there is a shorter lower version this is the big one Cost: About $2200 Mounting info: Does not have to be lagged into the concrete it is free standing and comes with casters so it can be moved. Options: Comes with (3) Drip trays (1) Jack Tray. The Jack Tray allows you to lift the car off its wheels with a bottle jack. Extra trays are $140. Titan also sells rolling jacks that fit in between the runways, these are super handy but are about $700 each. . There are many brands that are similar to Titan with the same options. I purchased this brand because I have a customer who is the master dealer and buys products from my company and I wanted to reciprocate.

And I've never told you my opinion on the whole build and stuff.... If it were me, I would want to get it running and on the road. And with that in mind, I would probably seriously consider putting a stock 280Z motor back in and shelve the whole turbo thing for the time being. You're going to have 10,000 problems and issues and things that you're going to have to spend time on. And a number of them you won't even know about until you get a bunch of miles under your belt. You haven't talked about your background, but I suspect you are tech savvy. But even with that, the documentation won't line up. The wiring diagrams won't line up. You'll be going to different manuals for different parts of specs. Your wife will hate it a whole lot less if it's running and you have in good enough condition for you to drive to work. Then after that, I would start thinking about serious upgrades and changing things. Maybe it's just me, but someone else's half finished technical project isn't a good starting point on something like this. There's probably some kid on craigslist close to you who wants two hundred bucks for the just yanked perfectly good running L28 he just pulled because he's going to drop in an RB28 or something. He'll never finish his project, but you could pickup his takeout motor for cheap and get some miles behind you. IMHO.

Take valve cover off then measure the long axis and short axis. Multiply it by 1.5 to get approximate valve lift.

You have me working on mine again! It was my first learning project, lots of mistakes like every nut and bolt up top have rusted. I wire wheeled them all to shine like new but didn't protect them.

Tabco panels are a mixed bag, and will need a little bit of work at a minimum, or at the worst, they're basically junk (rear lower quarter corners). The rockers seem to have an issue with the step down (for lack of a better term) where the rocker meets the fender tends to have a split in it that you'll need to weld up.

Good idea ZH but I had them spliced in by the time I read your post. Getting some surface finishing done, console was lightly sanded with 240 grit a 2 coats of SEM Landau black, All of the bumper rubber looks pretty sad, can't tell if a PO painted them at some point or that is just age but sanded all the rubber with 240 grit them burnished with the 3M Grey scuff pads then a couple of coats of Auto Glim tire dressing, This is a spare valve cover that will go on the 280z, wet blasted, a coat of GIBBS oil.

Wow. What a PITA. Glad you got it off. Now all you have to do is get those rusty studs out of the intake manifold without snapping them off.
