  1. Yep. I briefly mentioned it, but I am following the book 'how to rebuild your L series engine' so hopefully it all goes together the way it should ?
  2. I got the engine pulled today and a chance to pressure wash some of the crud out of the engine bay, lots of work to go. I found a place that will yellow zinc plate everything I can fit into a 5 gal bucket for a $100 so after I put everything from the 280z in there I started to go through my collection of spare Datsun bolts, then all stray metric hardware. I even went through an old box of engine bay work lights that I have p/u over the years at swap meets. Tomorrow is our local Zfest so gave the 240 a wash, clay bar and wax.
  3. He wanted me to share this for those restoring the earlier S30. The pulleys are similar in diameter but their profiles are slightly different. Sent from my [device_name] using http://Classic Zcar Club mobile
  4. Rod currently has #503 in his garage. He just sent me a picture of the distributor cap that's in there. Owner claims it's original to the car. Take it for what it's worth. In a couple of weeks, the sister car (#502) will come to his place for work. He'll snap a picture of that one too. Sent from my [device_name] using http://Classic Zcar Club mobile

The car sold for $9,200 That's a good number for that car. This gives some perspective on the 3 cars in the field which are likely not much rustier but a little higher VIN numbers
  8. Who says you need to ruin them?
  9. oh man.. so i hooked it up and caught my car on fire and then my house and then the neighbor's house.. naww.. kidding.. It worked!! Hooked solid black wire to neg side of coil and viola! a tach! Never even had to cut a wire.. All factory connections! re-taped wire loom and in business again! On to the heater hose/heater control valve replacement!
