  1. Well here is something that stopped me dead... This thread on HybridZ is about a widebody kit that is being developed for a race car, but I just couldn't believe this wouldn't be a best seller as the next generation retro Z car! Nissan should look at something like this, maybe a little less rear wing and canards, but the overall styling would be a hit IMHO. Widebody Kit

While I was at Zcon in Atlanta I got to spend some time with Gnosez at the car show. It was a lot of fun and very informative. While we were talking, we ended up on the topic of the Bad Dog frame rails that Gnosez makes and markets. John was telling me that when the frame rails get added to the floor boards they should not be fully seam welded. They need to be spotted in with gaps between weld sections. John was telling me when people have disregarded his advise and fully welded the floor seam, cracks have appeared at the roof joint at the top of the hatch. We were wondering about that joint and since Matsuo San was just a few feet away, we went to ask him about it. When we asked him about that joint, Matsuo San said the car needed to "breathe" and they put that joint there at the hatch. The idea was that the movement, from the car flexing, there at the hatch was better than stressing the A pillar and cracking it instead. He also said that since the chrome window frame is not structurally supportive, it needed to be like that. If the door had a real frame around the glass it might have been different. So for those of us, me included, who have considered making that joint more substantial to prevent cracking, that is not such a good idea if you like your windshield to stay in the car. John may have more to add as he was interpreting for me...
  3. Lets have a 50th in Q3/4 2019 and again at ZCON ~ 6months later.... twice is nice.
  4. Yes ! Japan is a country “ rising sun “ where we can have a celebration year faster than any of you . So we must start it from 2019 a little bit earlier than your country.? Kats

Zcon 2019 Write it down, go ahead and schedule that vacation!
  6. @240260280 would approve of the colour... or he formerly would have!
  7. The forward mounted sway bar can bind in certain situations. The rear mounted bar is a better option. I would suspect binding on the bar or rust at the mounting points broke it.
  8. From all I've read the thermotine is what you say, only for start up. The connector was broken off mine and I drove the car for a few months fine. I found a Z at a local junkyard and put it on but couldn't tell any difference. I've read some people don't have theirs plugged up at all. You can't find them anymore. When you loosen the oil cap does it stumble, die down on the RPMs? That's an easy way to tell if you might have a vacuum leak. If it doesn't change the idle you may have a bad vacuum hose somewhere. That accordion boot up front is bad to crack and leak causing higher idle. If it gets air before the throttle blade it's higher idle, after it would be low and lumpy, IF I REMEMBER RIGHT! I've forgotten a lot about the EFI car. Also cleaning the rotor button and distributor cap will help, replacing them even better. Good luck. Drum roll for Zed Head. He's very helpful.
  9. Minor victory... all the undercoating is off the hood!
  10. Nashville! too much humidity is an usual thing for me in Japan , but I was hoping somewhere in west coast. Now I am wondering I can have a big vacation for such a long distance trip with driving my Z . My orange automatic 240Z has an A/C . Kats
  11. Unless the endoscope has a ninety degree head on it, you might not be able to fit it between the two carbs to view the rear sight glass. Would work easy for the front, but might not work for the rear. A little mirror on the end though, could convert to a ninety degree view. Tell ya what... Come to my place and I'll show you how to see the bowl levels in situ! $3.99 at Horror Fright. This and a good flashlight:
  12. Hi SteveJ , I am thinking about bringing my Z to the 2020 ZCON . Japan ,like Alan said , we are looking forward to having a 50th anniversary in 2019 . On 20th Dec 1969 , Z went on sale in Japan . Some people got their Z actually in Dec 1969 . So , it is natural for us . This car , PS30-00049, is still having a warranty card . The date of register is 9th Jan 1970 . Usually it takes a week or so to deliver a car to the customers, the first owner seemed placing an order and making a contract with a payment just after 20th Dec 1969 . This car (PS30-00049) is now owned by Mr . Shiro Nakamura , a former design manager of Nissan when Z33 was made . https://bisan.co.jp/甦ったフェアレディZ432-p-hitorigoto002/ Which car should I bring ? My 240ZG with fully restored ( probably hard to do it because of money , parts are ready though ) or , the ZG as a survivor, with a lot of patina. Or my blue US 240Z with a S20 swapped ? Kats
  13. Will install new wires today
  14. I believe this photo was taken at the Nissan press writers test driving event - where various members of the Japanese automotive press actually got their first drives in the various new S30-series models - held on November 5th 1969, and over the following days.
  15. Japanese market models, at launch: S30-S 'Fairlady Z-S'/'Z-S'/'Z-standard' = 'Standard', no frills model. No bumper rubber trims. PS30-SB 'Fairlady Z432-R'/'PZR' = Super lightweight race homologation model. No bumper rubber trims. S30 'Fairlady Z-L'/'Z-DX' = 'Deluxe' model. Comes with bumper rubber trims. PS30 Fairlady Z432/'PZ' = 'Deluxe' version of 432. Comes with bumper rubber trims. So what you are seeing is one of the visible external differences between 'Standard' models and 'Deluxe' models. There were many other differences too. All Japanese models had the extra cost showroom option of bumper overiders, hence the presence of mounting holes in the bumper with black plastic grommets to fill them when not used.
  16. I have to trust the tuner and the power numbers would probably be very similar. However, with higher compression I at least have the ability to run race gas or E85 if he decides to make a tune for that. He can even have a switchable dual tune for either.
  17. Also I just came back from Williams AZ today for the 1st JDM Classic Show. It was a blast... we got some rain......had a lot of fun.
  18. Really? All I see are those prices going up. Where are you shopping for Z parts?
  19. Just came back from the 14th 2018 JCCS at Long Beach Ca. It was a 500 cars show....WHAT a turn out.Won 2nd Place in Skylines. The 1st was a Hako.
