  1. Are you sure that you connected it properly? Didn't nick any wires? Don't put larger fuses in to fix a short circuit problem. Find the short and fix it instead. https://www.datsun-240z-upgrades.net/product-info/
  2. Battery support, both are mint . Splash guard behind the right rear tire , the orange 240Z has a so beautiful one . Kats

Here. I got this for you: And if I were there, I'd buy you a real one.
  4. Hello everyone, This time I would like to start this new thread. Who did it? We know Mr.Matsuo is a chief designer of S30 styling. Later on we will talk about very early styling study, but right now what I want to say is,the S30 series car which you actually have got is,styled by Mr.Tamura. Mr.Tamura was inducted Mr.Matsuo's team when S30's styling "concept" were almost settled down. He did every body panel detailed styling. Not only surface,he created bumper, over rider, front grill etc. You will see how your S30's beautiful body surface are different from early styling study cray models. Mr.Tamura has never introduced to the public as a "designer of S30". But I think he definitely deserves to be credit. We can ask him every little thing about surface,he will reply. kats PS: attached drawings are by Mr.Tamura.He told me some styling sketch of S30 which we have seen in books are not described 100% correct.Interesting is,he did not do any "official" sketch when he had worked really hard.
  5. I try my best to stay out of these but absolutely DO NOT GO TO A HIGHER FUSE.
  6. Never, ever do this. Unless you want to burn you car to the ground!!! Find and fix the problem. I could be in the harness, relays. You just have to be systematic
  7. Are you doing a resto? Need it shiny? I did a quick run around the internet and it looks like a hard-to-find piece. It's in the carpartsmanual list, but not the illustration. Then if you search the number you get on to a merry-go-round to other parts. I did find one picture of it on a ZX diagram though. Part #14710E. You can carry on from here. Good luck. I'll bet you could make a good facsimile by yourself with the right material and some tin snips. Here's the ZX illustration but there's no link to a part - https://www.nissanpartsdeal.com/parts-list/1981-nissan-280zx/egr-parts.html?Diagram=147_A01 #57 here is a heat shield but it's not shown in the drawing - http://www.carpartsmanual.com/datsuns30/Datsun-Z-Index/Engine-280Z/Manifold-Egr/From-Aug-76
  8. Blowing fuses as you describe is a short circuit to ground, somewhere in that circuit.
  9. Ensys, thanks for the kind words and advice. I agree with you that my biggest issue is work space. Won't even get into details how I got the engine out and car moved without a front suspension on a gravel driveway. I do have a garage but not that I can get the car into. Previous home owners built a porch and planted trees so it is a big shed now. But that's god news as at least I have a workshop. Funny, this all started because I wanted to just change some rubber bushings on the front suspension! No intention to do a "refresh". This weekend I have time to practice welding some scraps.
  10. Especially with a sunroof, $10,000 to 15,000 is more realistic.
  11. Nice to see where the factory ends are on the weather strip! THANKS!
  12. Badges are mint in the orange 240Z . Center console , dashboard , heater panel are same mint condition. ( both cars have replacement door weather strip) Kats
  13. Bits and pieces comparison , tail gate inner rubber and hood upper rubber , both cars still have originals , just amazing . Tail light exterior panel , both are non repainted , but there is a difference of aging , fading for each. Kats
  14. Looks like the car is back on eBay. Here's the link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1969-Datsun-Z-Series/264036857874?hash=item3d79d2b812:g:UCwAAOSwxZxb1lTW:rk:9:pf:0&vxp=mtr
  15. Possibly, but maybe not. My first suspect would be fueling, so starting with the carbs is where I would start. Next would be ignition

I don't believe in bad ideas just bad solutions.
  17. Trying to remember but I’m thinking Road America...
  18. Here's a picture that I downloaded about 10 years from the Internet (sorry, too long ago to remember what site it came from) of some 240Zs awaiting restoration for Nissan's Vintage Z Program at Pierre Z in Hawthorne, CA back in 1997.
  19. I put copper grease instead of anti seize, worked fine for me.
  20. Kats, you did not need to delete them. That's not the point here. What I am unhappy about is the re-posting of photos, divorcing them from their original context and the information that went with them. I strongly believe we should try to keep any information about what is in the photo, where it was taken, who it was taken by, anything..... should be kept with the photo, if possible. At the very least, the person posting/re-posting the photo needs to act like a guardian or curator. They are a vital link. We should try not to break the link if we can avoid it. Yes, it's exciting and interesting when we see photos that are new to us, or are 'fresh'. We can talk about them and it can be entertaining, but it's a shame if some vital data or the chain back to the original source is lost in that process. A very wise man once told me that I should be careful only to post photos about which I could answer questions on, and - if that was not possible - to pose them as a question. I do try to heed that advice. My original "Hoover" comments were specifically with regard to photos being taken from threads here on classiczcars, and then re-posted on new classiczcars threads, but without the information and context that went with them. That seems, to me at least, to make no sense whatsoever. We have spent a lot of time on this forum digging into stories and learning so much, and the photos are a vital part of that. We are in danger of tearing the photos out of a book and throwing away the text. So, please post those photos again, but tell us something about them. Thank you.
  21. You are clearly way smarter than I am. Didn't finish today. I cut it twice and it's still too short.

  23. Thanks for the merge E. I was trying to decide if I should have started a new thread for the ignition relay issue or if I should just add on to this one, and I decided that I would start a new thread because ignition relay issue pertained to all the diagrams from 75-78, not just the color 77 version. I wasn't sure that someone looking for 75 info, for example, would pay that much attention to a thread that seems to be mostly 77-centric. It was 51-49 to me... However, I was also going to put a note in this thread as well when I got the chance, because I turned up a new issue with the color dwg. Simple oversight due to blurry dog-eared original hardcopy. There is a mis-numbering of one of the fuel injection relay connections: And some minor formatting slips as well. I love that color diagram...
  24. The HLS30-00059 identity 'lives on' in - in a shameful example of identity swapping - in the UK as a zombie, in a post-'73 bodyshell:
