So I need a little bit better dust management now that spring is sprung, so I can take the covers off the summer cars and still grind away (literally) on all the weld cleanup that I need to do on the front end... Enter dust booth V1.0. ... Made from 1 1/4 angle iron (Meccano for Adults ?) and 6 mil vapor barrier. I might add a fan and filter - we’ll see how it goes... and yes it will double as Part A of the modular paint booth when the time comes ???

success sorta.. I got it to start but clearly a bad miss fire, pulling #1 #2 injector wire had no effect on the running engine. The plugs looked wet, so I removed them all and did a run to watch for spark all looked good. So not sure what is going on, wet plugs mean gas is there, maybe the spark was weak enough to not fire? Will start with some new plugs (I did clean the old ones up before using). if no improvement I will pull the rail and make sure I am getting a GOOD fuel flow from #1 #2. I can hear them clicking This is NOT your rail JSM its the orig with injectors from the maxima. I found it easier to install the old style rail. Then my battery charger took a dump. it has a hard wired fuse that needs to be replaced, I did have it connected while starting the engine, perhaps an inductive kick back from the solenoid did something it did not like. I hate smart charges, but finding an old school one is not easy now a days. anyway I will install a proper fuse holder on the back of the dump thing, and press on. Finally got to do a hot compression reading 165-170 on all. not bad at all!!

Good day ladies and gentlemen, i havent logged in for a long time, but i think thats going to change to being the guy you're sick of hearing from. Im way up north in Newfoundland and i have a 73 that i tucked away in the back of my shed / garage 10 years ago and forgot about. Just retired-a couple of years ago and after clocking 100k miles on my bike im thinking of a more practical hobby. Long story short, I have a rebuilt f54/p90 modified with compression pumped up, ready to go carbureted. Most of the go fast gear sitting in boxes ready to be bolted on but not everything im going to maintain her as a typical Z. Appearance wise other than engine and pipes. at this stage im dismantling and scratching my head. Engine is out and the car looks pretty good. Trying to figure how much is transferable to the replacement engine. Thoughts and experience pointers welcome. If you know obvious considerations, please throw them out here for me to ponder. ill stick in a few pictures of the state of affairs.

What he said. You might not have to replace ANY injectors. Have you verified that the issue is inside the injector itself and not something else?

are you sure its the injector and not the wire connection to the injector? They often become corroded and you end up with poor contact of the pins. I don't know exactly what is done to refurbish injectors, they don't look to be rebuildable other than replacing the small filter screen and plastic cap on the tip. There are places that offer cleaning services if its just a matter of improving the flow.

I just finished my taxes, so it's time for an update! I'm absolutely LOVING the Mikuni 44s! I need to schedule some dyno tuning this summer with Jeff Winter. Here's a video clip from the SU dyno runs I mentioned before. Sadly, they wouldn't let me touch the engine bay between runs. IIRC the numbers were right around 140whp/tq at 6000 feet.

I hooked up the ign to the installed distributor, pulled all the plugs out, ahd hook them all up. Now these are the plugs that were in it and look terrible, but still some seemed to have a much hotter spark than the others. I will invest in some new plugs, hold off on wires until I actually test fire it and see how things go. I tried to video it in the dark with the idea of being able to see them in slow mo, but the video quality was so bad I did not publish it. I will go to the local auto parts store and get the plugs tomorrow. maybe give it a try. Just have to remember to torque the flywheel bolts, and make sure I did not leave any unplugged lines on the intake manifold. The plan will be to monitor vacuum, oil pressure and fuel pressure during the 1st start.

Working on fixing glass fiber bumper bracket. I purchased body mount from EuroDat a bit long ago, and finally, start working on the bumper. The bracket is really stable and fit very well. Thanks Chas! I purchased fiber bumper from local craigslist long time ago... The bracket on the bumper side does not fit to the mount at all. Thus, I removed the bracket and left them for awhile... I weld bolts on the bracket and painted. Put a few glass fiber sheet and fix it. Add more sheets to make it durable. Test fitting looks good ? I have to think about what I should do on the side blots. I don't have a hole on the side of the body...
