Generally I see no point in drive by wire for "routine" use. If you have a good TPS, that's all the ECU needs to know about gas pedal position. Setting up a drive by wire is not trivial from what I've read. Also factor in the obvious old guy factor that wants a hard mechanical connection between my right foot and the throttle blades and you might need to temper my comments some...
  2. And you'll need to strengthen the frame considerably! 500 RWHP will twist a stock body to pieces.
  3. It was a loooooong time ago that I saw that episode. Despite all the abuse, some brain cells just won't die. LOL!
  4. We've seen stock L28E 280Z's on the dyno running from in the 90's RWHP to 110 RWHP - depending on condition. (don't be dismayed, a Z doesn't need much to make it fun to drive...)
  5. Just sold my last set. I have a set of the 280ZX tripod inner stub adapters yet if you decide to go that way. Only one thing I know, CV conversions are not cheap, there are no cheap solutions unless you are doing ALL the fabrication yourself. People's time material expertise and development investment is worth every penny they are charging. Best "Value" is still DatsunRestomod.com. Simple, remove old/bolt in new setup with same 8 bolts. No 200 bolts with safety wire and 3 sets of loose splines on both sides with the crappy Porsche 930 CV stuff...
  6. That would be the very looong and cold Canadian winter, eh?

Mark, as my dad used to say, ‘kid, don’t concern yourself with my money.’ ‘ I earned it and I’ll spend it the way I want!’ I hear you though...
  8. Slowly but surely progress is being made! Got the engine and transmission out (if someone wants a engine or 4 spd trans let me know) and started cleaning out the engine bay. I few pin hole rust spots that will need to be fixed is the current analysis (don't worry there are plenty of other rust spots that will be part of the adventure. Going the Vermont route to resolve the title issue, unfortunately since you pay taxes based on NADA value up there it's isn't going to be cheap. More to come soon. . .
  9. I guess I'm IN with the OUT crowd How about we cover "Far Out" rather than "Way Out"?
  10. M3333hp, For the past year or so I've been giving a lot of thought about how to best dispose of my Holy Grail parts to the benefit of the Z car community only to be swept up yet again in the rush of serendipity that has been the one consent in my working life as a Datsun Mechanic. When the prices of Z cars started to hit the highs I started getting calls asking for consulting help with back to stock restorations. I feel it only fair to make my stash available those customers paying for my time and expertise. I hope you can understand. Cheers
  11. I'm too tall to be a member of the band, but maybe I could be the manager?
  12. There it is! EDIT: There HE is! So I'm #1 and you're #2. That makes @wal280z #3? There's four Wayouts, @240260280 maybe?
  13. Man.... You're way out.* And I'm in line one number behind you!! Hahahaha!!!! * Way out!
  14. so some boring filler and sanding tonight. This will be the norm for a while as I prep the panels for paint. The fenders were already done so that leaves the doors, scoops, inspection lids, cowls, balance and hood/hatch to finish. Sounds like a lot...
  15. So after confirming dementia is beginning, I realized I was putting the new fender seal on the wrong lip of the inner fender. Here it is installed on the right ridge with the old style rubber strip laying beside it. The new bulb style seal is great!
  16. Hi Blue , did I post this before ? Kats
