  1. It does look solid, engine bay is silver, Nature abhors a vacuum and that car sized void in my storage area has been sucking pretty hard, look what it hoovered up, a 1973 510, body done and painted this last summer, all glass, all chrome, most of the interior and comes with a SR20DET and matching 5spd trans. The guy I bought it off put 7 yrs into it but realized he would never finish it, I know I certainly will. Boxes and boxes of stuff to go through, can't wait

It's going to be a while before I can really get going on this one but I can work on all the stuff in the boxes in between other stuff. She arrived this morning just after a big dump of snow, my plow guy was late so had to shovel a path to the storage tent. the last pic is showing how low some PO cut the springs, the fender lip is digging into the tire and the car is stripped of all weight.

Looking at these pics it makes me so glad I don’t live in Canada (nothing to do with the enthusiasts). Cool car, something about the 510, but your driving season is so short. Makes me shiver just looking at that unheated garage.
  5. Repair plans have been formulated with the goal of being back on the track by the Mitty
  6. Actually for ten miles, those plugs look good to me. Maybe a tiny bit rich, but not bad. Remember this isn't a closed loop engine burning all nice and clean and stuff. You do need to make sure the engine is getting up to temp though. Figure out if you have an instrumentation issue, or are you really running that cold?
  7. I'm sure you know but a lot of us have found it's best not to cut out all the rust at once, it makes the body flexy and sag if you're not careful. Better to repair the P/S floor first then onto the D/S floor pan then the dog legs and so on. That is certainly true for the 240z's and maybe not so much for the ZX's because they are a little stronger but just thought I would mention it, as dutchcarguy says, you don't want to weld in permanent errors.
  8. Sorry, but i had to laugh at that sentense.. I also once had a (ex)car like that… it was a Dutch Original car.. these are mostly all rotted away.. I had 2 giant holes sawn in the floor.. If you do that look if you have to brace it.. there is nothing so bad as finding out the door won't fit after you welded a new floor in a car. (never had that myself luckely) Pic. 2 looks not scary.. the 3th.. does a bit... If i were you i would look for a clean chassis.. they must be around for not to much "Dinero" ? as we overhere say: Pegels! hahaha..
  9. It's more of a rebirth than a replica. Randy worked extensively with the BRE team members and photos to capture every detail possible. He bought all of the existing parts still in existence from Dan Parkinson and installed them in the car (except for the engine and transmission which remain on display). While the original body was wrecked in the late 70s, John Morton thought enough of Randy's efforts to give Randy the original car's VIN plate.
  10. With the unibodies sometimes the pieces you think are important aren't so much. Don't think that you need big solid frame rails for the car to be solid. The car is a steel box, with a few reinforcing pieces attached strategically. Many members here have cut away large sections of their cars to repair the rust.
  11. Thanks Charles! I was going to fab the tool to be like what’s shown in the FSM, using aluminum stock. But, I dragged out the piece of plywood to use instead. Quick and easy! I also used it to remove the drain & fill plugs. I just bolted the diff cover to the plywood, stood the plywood upright on its long edge, and used my breaker bar & cheater pipe to loosen the plugs.
  12. Found this list on 510realm today, didn't take note of who posted it and can't find them now. Good info,
  13. @Mike Should this be moved to the 510 sub forum?
  14. Well clean as least, quick not so much, a few projects and obligations have to finished first but I'm not bitching, too much to be thankful for.
  15. Sad news. The BRE 46 got caught up in an accident at the HSR race in Daytona. Fortunately, John Morton walked away. I haven't seen any photos from the aftermath, but I did hear the car ended up on its roof. Randy said the car is very messed up.
  16. Ok, so here is an interesting little spreadsheet. Somehow I managed to harvest all the S30 part numbers from a certain on-line resource... Now you can do a little sorting and searching a bit more easily. CPM_Fiche_S30.xls
  17. I will suggest googling "240 bumpers on 280 Eurodat classiczcars.com". Probably the best current thread we have. Also he has a '77 like yours. And they're in a large shipping box. If your travels take you anywhere near you could pick them up at his business.
  18. Unfortunately I need to sell mine. I just finished getting mine spiffed up and ready to go
