Isolation Videos/Content to Keep Spirits High: Post Something (Non-Virus) for Entertainment of Others
You're welcome. Here's another one from Australia. It's just a cartoon. Usually the guy does soccer themes but sometimes he branches out. I hope that nobody is offended. It's just a cartoon. https://www.theguardian.com/football/ng-interactive/2020/apr/23/david-squires-on-donald-trump-boris-johnson-and-a-turd-rolled-in-glitter2 points

Wind Noise
2 pointsAbsolutely, that's a plug weld. With perfect prep the 3M panel bond might work well but personally I think I would have to weld those pieces together. I would just be afraid that if that bond did lift off or crack the repair job just got a lot more difficult, with welding you know the job is done once. Z cars consistently rust in those two spots on either end of the deck lid and I'm sure it is because the rain gutter on either side stops 3-4" too soon so all the water that drains off gets dumped right on to the deck lid. Those corners also slope back a bit so standing water can sit there until it evaporates. While your in there you might consider adding a couple of small extensions like this that will take the water off the car completely. At least the next restorer 50 yrs from now won't have to deal with the same problem.2 points

Frame Rail Patch Yes or No?
2 pointsI started today by cutting off the horizontal brackets on the middle of the rail in order to slide the big dog rail over the existing factory rail. This will give me an idea of what else needs modification. The rails themselves are in good shape. These rails were designed to attach to the sides of the factory rail. I took a couple of pics this afternoon while I was test fitting the rail. The rails are notched in various areas to match the floor pan. Right off I found An area that requires another notch cut out to clear a factory weld on the current rail. Once that’s done I’ll test fit the rail again.2 points

COVID-19
2 pointsI'm a plan guy. Always have one or two at least. These people in control do not. It's very tough on us. I'm not dealing very well with the uncertainty, deceit fulness that I read/hear daily. I don't think we can take the yo yoing much longer. Somebody needs to stand up and be consistent with a plan. The potus wants to reopen schools for a month. Why?2 points

Parts Refurb
2 pointsMore Work In Progress: License Lights. While waiting for the inspection lights to get back from plating (they finally did!) I started on some license lights in the hoard. Of all the pieces and parts, three lights will make it thru to near term completion. The back sides have been painted flat white topped with clear to cover stains and increase brightness, bulb circuits all checked out, front covers going into primer. The gaskets on these units are usually shot but I was fortunate to find one not broken. To make new gaskets I had some 1/16" adhesive back neoprene on hand so I made a paper copy of the gasket on the printer, taped the copy to the neoprene, and cut out a new gasket. It turned out to be too thin to easily work so I doubled the neoprene and repeated the process. Success - three nice gaskets that fit securely in place.2 points

COVID-19
2 pointsI believe that continuing to flatten the curve helps us. Yes, to some degree it's moving infections and mortality into the future, because of course more cases will appear when more people associate. BUT - buying time also buys us the opportunity to improve the situation when that new peak develops. How? - The potential for building toward herd immunity, even if immunity is not confirmed yet as a result of having had the disease. - More time to get test kits in place and build our reserves of critical care equipment such as ventilators and emergency care beds. - We will get closer to a vaccine, which won't be created as soon as we want, but it's reasonable to assume we will have one, since we have them for closely related diseases. - More time to resolve questions about how widespread the infection is, improve the reliability of testing, and resolve questions about possible post-infection immunity, as well as explore the potential and effectiveness of sharing plasma antibodies (something that's available NOW, not waiting on a vaccine.) Those are plenty of good reasons to keep flattening the curve and push the new curve of infections as far into the future as possible.2 points

No spark - shotty wiring
1 pointYeah, I figured it was good enough since the starter engages. I probably should have started it up before I did the tune just to get a base line (know that it was actually going to start up before I did the work) i was just about to start putting in the old distributor parts to see if I could get it fire last night but it was too late. Im going to try a few things tonight and if that doesn't give me any answers I will swap the old parts back in. Thanks everyone.1 point

1 pointMight as well measure continuity to ground on the ground side of the points also. If the distributor has lost its ground then the points won't work. I'm just a big fan of measurements.1 point

Outer Tie Rod Ends
1 pointPersonally I would keep them the same. Moog. I ordered mine from https://www.summitracing.com/search/product-line/moog-replacement-tie-rod-ends/make/nissan/model/240z/part-type/tie-rod-ends?fr=part-type You get both Moog and less expensive. You don't always have to buy from the Z parts Stores ?. IMO. IIRC the two right side issue is when you replace the inners ball joints.1 point

Ceramic coated vs straight stainless for header and exhaust system
That’s a great outcome! Very pleased for you. [emoji106][emoji106] My L26 had a beautifully ported E88 head and went so well. These cars seem to love a good bit of porting / matching.1 point

COVID-19
1 pointI had thought that Pence was actually a guy who "got it" but just couldn't really do anything. In the early days I had wished that he was in charge instead of the other guy. But now I see that he's just part of that crowd. Just a politician.1 point

Found this on the TheGuardian.com. He sounds like a 25 year old Australian but looks like a 14 year old Australian except for the tattoos and piercings. I don't really know what an Australian looks like I just guessed from the accent. Might be New Zealand. Anyway, it's a cooking video. p.s. NSFW1 point

240z - fabbing new front rails
1 pointUnbolted most of the jig today - basically it is just a two legged dolly now - and I am happy to report that nothing bad happened...no flex, twist or release .... And chipped out the last of the sound deadening in the trunk ... ...and vacuumed out all the junk. She hasn't been cleaner in at least 40 years .... ...so I think she's "ready to roll". ??1 point

Ceramic coated vs straight stainless for header and exhaust system
No it's stock L28 except for port matching which was a significant increase in air/fuel flow. I added a potentiometer for more fuel to compensate for more air flow. It ran lean and bucked like crazy until 2,500 rpm. Now it pulls like a tractor.1 point

COVID-19
1 pointIt's odd how you keep overlooking the fact that staying within the capacity of the healthcare system saves lives. You should watch Governor Cuomo's morning briefings. He understands this and explains it very well, and is planning re-opening based on that principle. He has an actual long-term plan. A healthcare system that is at full capacity cannot care for any new patients, no matter what their problem. Car crashes, overdoes, assaults, etc. all get left outside because the system is full. The main point of flattening the curve is to have some capacity left for the rest of the patients. The alternative is to reject all of the COVID-19 patients because it's an inconvenience. Aside from the moral aspects, doctors have taken an oath, the Hippocratic oath, to take care of all patients. I can't really imagine a society where we're out and about, spreading disease, because we want to go see a movie or workout in the gym. I understand the economic reasons, working to produce the things we need to live, and things that can be produced at low risk. But trading lives for personal enjoyment is unimaginable. I guess it boils down the definition of harm and good.1 point

Ceramic coated vs straight stainless for header and exhaust system
Thanks for the great information. Since I live in TX and it does get very hot here I think I will go with the ceramic MSA. I do love the looks of the SS though. Below are some pics of the car. 75K documented miles and first owner had car until 2012. Original window sticker and all service documentation throughout history of car. Next is on to Ztherapy SU carbs. Called them and they are booked out until June.. Geez they must be busy. Couple pics of the car below.1 point
