  1. Just received my set of Amco knock off floor mats. I couldn’t be happier...... they are beautiful! FYI Guy
  2. Finally......Our painter is committed to finish my sculpture this weekend. I’ll take him the trim tomorrow and he should be finished Saturday....fingers crossed!

Making progress on a couple of fronts - a small plating run came back yesterday including the fittings for the license lights. Now I need some cooperation from the weather to finish painting the back covers - forecast winds of 10-20 for several days! ☹️ Prep work on the inspection lights is wrapped up, assembly getting underway. Reinstalling the ground wire staple is a real PITA!!! A couple of units completed with many more to go, all waiting on new lenses. Also, a quick visual comparison of the aftermarket metal switch (unpainted) compared to a NOS switch.
  4. Happened to me when I was driving in the rain at night to Thunderhill Raceway, glad my headlights were working, turned out to be the fuse that was causing an issue. Did you inspect the fuses? I feel like on the old glass fuses, they can look “ok” but sometimes there is intermittent to no continuity between the sides....
  5. Hey @zKars, your old bumper is still pretty shiny! Thanks to @EuroDat for the awesome bracket kit. Perfect fit and I am very pleased.
  6. I need dramamine to watch the dvd but it is excellent on the info. My favorite is the "quick and dirty" Phillip put together.
  7. 'Restored' means whatever you want it to mean. It all depends on what's important to you. The factors that typically come into play: 'original' vs. 'improved' vs. 'custom' (one person's idea of 'improved' is another person's idea of 'ruined') color match (make the new seats match the faded trim? Or replace the faded trim to match the new seats?) cost (see Item 2) appearance (see 'original' vs ''improved' vs 'custom' manufacturer's warranty ergo comfort (the OE seat design is 'just ok' in this regard. Some people replace them with Miata seats for this reason.) other comfort issues (leather is nicer than vinyl if you live in a hot-sun region) quality of fit (some replacement covers fit better than others -- although a good upholstery shop can probably overcome this) smell (most prefer leather over vinyl... while others consider the Z' interior's scent-of-vinyl to be part of its charm) durability (I haven't heard any bad reports about the leather covers, but they are stitched and that can sometimes lead to problems. As most of us know, the outboard upper seat bolster in these cars take a beating. The lower seat cushion is a high-load area, too.) It will probably help you most to get advice from our members on what not to buy (and why). From that point, it's pretty much up to you and whatever you think will make you happy.
  8. I wouldn't really expect stumbling and backfiring at AFR 15. I'd expect more like 17 /18 for that. It could be that your carbs aren't balanced, so you've got one at 17/18 and one at 12/13 averaging out on the o2 sensor around 15. The imbalance could be throttle opening or needle lift. check and adjust so that they both flow the same air at idle and 2000 and 3000 rpm. then check that the needles are being lifted equally at all 3 points.
  9. I'm a little skeptical about changes like that from someone who may or may not know what they are really doing. It's admittedly unfair for me to question his fix while I have nothing else to propose, but his explanation certainly didn't satisfy me. As zKars pointed out above, there is a 2200 Ohm resistor in series with the tach on the 280's. Another 5 Ohms added to that 2200 won't do squat. Makes me question the mod. When I get a chance, I'll look to see if I have a loose tach around here.
  10. Once you have shorted out the 5 Ohm resistor, it really doesn't matter if you leave it there or clip it out. However, I have no idea as to the validity of that "fix". Without doing some reverse engineering I cannot provide any input into what that modification does or if it's really a good idea or not. The guy in that video seemed confident in it, but I'm not confident in his confidence. He said something about "running the numbers" and "that resistor in there reduces the voltage"... Well, without seeing a schematic, I'm not sure at all what that means. Might be harmless, might not. Is this a common thing that a lot of people mess with? I might have a spare tach around here somewhere...
  11. And the finished door jamb grommet!
