1. Sorry folks, you may have seen the note we put up in our store, this Covid thing has forced a couple more guys to step down to take care of family, including James temporarily, and we were already short on warm bodies, so we've been a bit overwhelmed, but still standing and swinging. We have a couple of new guys starting soon, both of them Z owners, so if we've missed any of your emails or messages know we're working hard to get caught up. I was able to check in with Lee between his recent business trips. He is traveling (again), and having log-in issues, but I mentioned the Stainless issue to him and he said that the hardware is chromed steel, not stainless. Now that discussion is above my pay grade, lol, so I'll let Lee pick up any further questions when he gets back. It has already been answered previously, but that disc is completely there just to avoid possible air damage to the seal, by giving paths for the air to move freely if the bump stop comes all the way down. I guess they used to see it happen way back and thus came up with the disc as a simple yet fully effective solution. One of the projects that has suffered with the current situations is making a picture-gram of how the pieces go together on the strut just to add clarity. The sleeve and the bump stop go together like this image I took. I believe this was also described early on in this thread, but I never made it to making that diagram/image. Sorry about that. I'll make a real one soon with all the pieces. Then instructions are also something Lee is looking into, but those wheels turn pretty slow, especially with our current world. Somebody said it was done like that to make it work for all languages, which is exactly correct. We hate to see that anybody had any trouble with their struts, but it is great to hear from so many who love the performance. Ok, it's nearing 10:30 pm here in SoCal, back to answering more emails!

 2. Yet another round of wildfires in California, Oregon, and Washington. I am seeing a lot of smoke in the greater Seattle/Puget Sound area, which is a nuisance to work in, but some folks are losing their homes and lives. I hope those here in the path of the fires are safe.

 3. Hey I bet I can save you $8k, the suspension might look like it is shot and certainly the original rubber bushings are but you may be very surprised how well new rubber bushings make the car feel. There are more than a few guys here that have gone the poly urethane bushings route then turned around and replaced that with fresh OEM rubber. If the car is a dedicated track car that's one thing, if you're doing a mixture of town and country driving then the harshness of the poly can get old really fast. TTT's stuff is sexy for sure but all new rubber bushings and mounts is only going to set you back about $500, however, poly mounts for the steering rack really are a must. Just my opinion.

 4. I’m in the business too, I can confirm that the prices have jumped More than 100% since spring. I was very fortunate to buy my lumber for my personal barn conversion to garage/workshop in the spring otherwise it would have cost me double in August when I really did it ?... A 11$ osb 4x8 sheet in spring is now 23$ the last time I checked. here is the almost finished project that I will finish during the cold winter months!...

 5. Well, I have been looking for a new project and everything is beyond my price, so I picked up this to work on for the winter. Not a S30, but it is a 70’s Japanese Machine with a Z in the model name.

 8. boy I would like to give folks I ride in my all OE z, just for a baseline to see how it rides. I took it on the trip to pikes peak, avg about 800-900 miles per day, was quite comfortable doing it. AC and good ride made for a very nice ride. I can't over state the importance of AC esp if you live anywhere in the south. Without it, pure misery.

 9. They $3500 is equal to about $25k now but thats based on published federal inflation numbers which are low. I would say closer to 40k. So not too far off, considering the complexity of a modern car

 12. Joseph@TheZStore thanks for coming back on this and great to be speaking with a firm that properly listen to their clientele! The galling is definitely an issue that they need to consider seriously, as undoubtedly others will also be experiencing this at some point. The teething issues with instructions etc will be sorted soon enough and as you say, an exploded diagram of sorts will be great. Thank you also for validating the bump stop / spacer bushing orientation. Would be interesting to see how others find it - when I experimented with that orientation, I found that the bump stop would be crushed against the spring top hat when the whole thing is torqued up and I wasn’t sure if that would reduce it’s lifespan. I’m sorry to hear you have men / women down at the moment. Having parents and friends who had COVID, I know it’s quite unpleasant but I’m sure I speak for us all when I say that we wish them a speedy recovery. Well done for keeping things going. The Zstore has always been a pleasure to deal with for me, especially confirmed when you replaced my damaged in transit Konis without a single word of quibble and gave me store credits for the additional taxes the UK government charged. Keep up the great work and hang in there, COVID will pass.

 15. Here is a Tokico HP with the replacement KONI - noticeably different bottom configuration, looks somewhat similar to the one in madkaw's second pic. The chipped paint on the KONI is from interference with the strut bottom.

 17. @Patcon Tks, yeah you definitely need one of those, I got a 2020 U35, it’s never big enough!! But it fits the 13’ high ceiling clearance so I wont get any bigger. Glass doors; I needed natural light for the 2nd floor workshop, that was the best way, there is one on both ends. I will add some sliding guardrail, just not finished yet!! Lifts will come in later so now I will be able to restore my ‘70 in-house and store the ‘73 for the winter ?

 19. Excellent source of new alternators as well! Double Wow! I would give anything for an alternator and starter I can trust rather than the endless replacement cycle I seem stuck in .

 20. Easily found in Japan; https://www.rhdjapan.com/search/?q=lug nuts Made from duraluminium is what I gather, have a set I got from here a few years ago (but not listed anymore), on my S30, and the added thing is they are all hepagonal, so a normal spanner socket won't fit, so effectively 4 lock nuts per wheel. Even Nismo sells aluminium nuts.

 23. Portland. We're scrambling around here. As of this morning, more than 500,000 have evacuated their homes in Oregon. That's 1/10th of the population and most of those are on the west side of the state. Several small towns have burned to the ground and now the fires are heading towards larger towns. Molalla and Oregon City have been evacuated. One half mile visibility due to smoke yesterday. About the same today. The smoke is so dense you can look at the sun at noon without squinting. It's just a red dot in a dirty orange sky. The smoke goes up to around 10,000' and prevents fire fighting air drops from being used and firefighters on the ground from finding the fires. Rescue vehicles can't get to some areas. Yesterday they pulled ALL the firefighters back in to regroup and attack again. As of this morning none of the fires around Portland are contained. Parking lots are full of RVs and tents here in town. Hotels, Motels are full and we still have Covid-19 to deal with. We could use your prayers folks.
